A gift from the people of Korea on the occasion of America’s bicentennial celebration the bell is worth seeing and the views from its site even more so.

A beautiful symbol of peace of friendship between two countries! Also take note, it’s NOT for you to ring, so get out from the chained area.

Nice historical adventure for history buffs. It's a good educational lesson for all ages. After you visit the bell you can enjoy the view of the ocean or relax at the park. If you like to fly kites this is the perfect place to do so.

A simple park for the whole family. You can relax and take on the scenery of the waters up top the hill. Beautiful view of the bell which will be great for picture taking and a fun time with your friends. A great place for a picnic date with friends and loved ones.

This place is stunning because it's located right next to the beach. Tons of people come here to fly kites, stroll around or even play basketball because it overlooks the gorgeous water. There's plenty of free parking and this landmark is free to visit as well. It was a gift given by South Korea to US as a symbolic gesture of kindness and friendship to bring peace in the relationship. Don't forget to bring your camera because you won't want to miss out by not capturing the moment digitally!

This place is so beautiful. You get a beautiful view of the ocean and parks and all San Pedro has to offer in one place. This is a really beautiful park i must say. I wish it had DUCKS though.... But anyways there's the famous Friendship Bell in the middle of the park. The lawn is used for people to chill and fly kites. This place can get pretty windy during the day, but luckily it was summer time so it wasn't too cold. They also have weddings near the bell area. This is a great place for photography and just being able to take in the scenery. The parking is pretty big but it may be hard to find a spot when there are weddings there.

This place is awesome for a photo shoot, or even weddings from what I observed. It's located right next to the beach. Come here and observe the historic gift from S. Korea to the US. There's a basketball court nearby too, and it feels so surreal being able to just be there to observe the surroundings. It gets nice a windy up here too, so it's pretty cool here on a hot day. You see people flying kites here, having picnics, or even just laying on the grass, soaking up the sun. Feels like a dream.

This place is just beautiful! When we first landed in California, my Uncle took us here and then on, any relatives or family visiting us from overseas, my father always take them here. Yes!, it's that beautiful!
Take Gaffey Street allllllllll the way up to the end on a hill. Inside this park sits a huge bell on the center of the hill. You're on the top of the hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the Port of L.A.

The view is just breathtaking. I just wish the wind is not that strong but it seems like every time I come, it just want to blow me away.. :-o

Ok I will give this place 4 stars becuase of the view. But otherwise I was not as impressed as most of my compatriots seem to be. The view of catalina and the Port of Long Beach are great. However, there is virtually no shade (I mean seriously no trees at all???) and the grounds are ok but not kept up everywhere very well.

The colors on the pagoda are beginning to fade and need to be redone, IMHO. But even more important would be to remove the pigeons roosting in the belltower structure. The bell does have a very nice petina on it and I wish there was a plaque or something to translate the Korean into english that is on the bell. I also find it intrigueing that there on the bell they have a traditional Korean figure representing Korea and the Statue of Liberty representing the US.

Pro Tip: Wear a hat and sunscreen here. It has a double whammy of direct sun and sun coming off of the ocean!

I would have thought that the parking area could have had a tree or two, but alas it was just grass and concrete between the rows of cars. Also the grass on the ocean side of the bell is almost totally worn down to dirt.

Pro Tip #2: Do not plan on using the restroom here, unless you want to pull up a shrubbery...

However the view presented is awesome. This prometory and the view it affords, is one of the absolute best I know of in LA/OC without a doubt. Definitely a place worthy of spending at least 30 minutes to explore if you havent ever been here before. Very very fun.

The Korean Friendship Bell. Whoohoo. I had always wanted to go ever since I watched The Usual Suspects. If you have not seen the movie, please do. And then send me a thank you card along with some candy. You're welcome, forever. I love this movie so much I have two copies. One to lend to people who haven't watched it and a special one for myself that's signed by Brian Singer. If you've seen the movie, love it and live in Los Angeles, let me know. I want to reenact the scene!
Oh yeah, this place is ideal for kite-flying and picture taking. I made a mental note to visit again with friends, kites and a basket full of picnic food. This is also a perfect place for engagement photos and weddings.
