While the location of this resort is fantastic, the carpeting is dirty and dated, the staff seems overwhelmed, and the rooms are way too dark. Everything could use a good cleaning. We liked the Fess Parker videos, and it's clear that once this was an elegant place, but the price is way to high for the quality. Also, the leftovers from dinner become breakfast and it's not appealing. Try the ice cream though, they give you many scoops.Very noisy, with kids everywhere and the door to the outside slammed open and shut all night long. The pool was a highlight.

This seaside hotel is beautiful, convenient, and has lots of amenities (including conference rooms and restaurants). It's a bit generic, but it's definitely an attractive option if you have the money and want to be near SB's downtown AND beachfront. (Locals also occasionally sneak into the pools and hot tubs here, but that, of course, is illegal.)

The Fess Parker DoubleTree Resort exemplifies why Santa Barbara is sometimes referred to as the "California Riviera". Just steps from the famous East Beach, with its world-class beach volleyball and art exhibits, it's also a stone's throw from nearby Stearn's Wharf. The Wharf is saturated with dining and nightlife, but many choose simply to take in a Santa Barbara sunset with a meander along the boardwalk.

Stayed for two nights on business. This is a high end property with super nice furnishings. The staff definitely goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable.

Fess Parker made his money in Television 50 years ago, wearing a coonskin cap. He parlayed that beginning into becoming a real estate mogul, leveraging properties to the point of owning this water front resort before selling it to Hilton/ Double Tree.

The Fess Parker Doubletree Resort, on the beach in Santa Barbara, is perhaps the largest and best hotel in this segment of the coast.

They have a large restaurant with sweeping views of the ocen front and volleyball sand pits on the beach. The restaurant has a good breakfast.

They have a popular restaurant here, perfect for guests and locals alike to get a nice brunch. A bit high prices for a regular brunch place, but typical for a resort.

The grounds are nicely kept, and there is a large patio area, where many weddings and banquets are held, while the Bride and Groom photos are easily taken across the street,, beach side as the sunsets in the background.

Great choice for staying, vacations, locals, and special events.

This is a really cool hotel with an absolute prime location right on the coast within walking distance to State street. Great meeting and banquet rooms and a nice pool. All said if you have the $$ I would still stay at the Biltmore or the Bacara if on a romantic getaway. If you are meeting up with friends and hitting the town at night this would be a great place to stay.

Nice Hotel, very clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was very spacious with nice patio that faced the beach. I sstayed here for a large event. The restaurant food was very good, the kitchen was slow, had a problem with the amount of people and the waiter had my meal compt, without me asking. The only downside, quite a walk to main restaurant and shopping area.

Fess Parker passed away a few years ago at his home in the Santa Ynez Valley at the age of 85. I watched him in Daniel Boone at a kid and still remember Ed Ames and the comical tomahawk toss on the old Johnny Carson show. Fess Parker was actually more famous for his portrayal of Davy Crockett in the 1950s and best known after he left acting as a winery owner and a real estate developer.

He also acquired a reputation for being sure of himself and determined to get his own way. That probably partially explains how he managed prevailed in building this expansive DoubleTree Resort across from such prime coastal real estate. This is California after all, and developments like this are usually heavily challenged and rarely approved.

I attended a professional conference here a few years ago. Gayle and I came with me and we had a marvelous drive down to Santa Barbara. Our room was spacious and Gayle found it very comfortable to hang out was away. During those times, I enjoyed the Conference facilities, the well landscaped grounds, the common areas, and the staff service that matched my expectations. Gayle and I also enjoyed our walks along the beach, the longer trek to Brophy Bros, our jaunts up and down State Street and even our "death march" up to Mission Santa Barbara.

Stayed here for a few years in a row for a work conference... It's right on the water and absolutely gorgeous. The rooms are spacious, the service, higher than what you'd expect for a DoubleTree.

I've seen weddings here, and of course, conferences. The cafe in the lobby leaves some things to be desired (it's really not very good), but cab rides to downtown are reasonable and, did I mention, it's right on the water/ocean/beach (ok across a street).
