A relaxing oasis. Robust activities program from animal cuddling to art to wellness. Lovely spa. Loads of places to sit amongst nature and just be.

Finally visited Sunrise Springs and fell in love. Rooms were super elegant and comfortable with big bathroom and coffee and other amenities. I enjoyed a terrific breakfast burrito in the restaurant. Most of all I loved the grounds with the beautiful pond as well as the outdoor hot tubs. Enjoyed the tub after hiking Tent Rocks so a perfect respite. The wellness program had many inviting classes from yoga to crafts. This will be on my shortlist.

First to Review

In June, 2017 we made our first trip to Sunrise Springs and didn't know what to expect as we had heard absolutely nothing about the retreat, and once we entered the gated resort, we never left. The first thing you see is the fantastic grounds filled with a lush landscape of mature cottonwoods, levels of ponds, plenty of wildlife, and it all surrounds a giant medicine wheel of green grass.

The staff comes out to greet you and give you a tour upon your arrival. In fact, every single person we met in the staff was outstanding to the nth degree, from Giovanni greeting us upon our arrival, to the restaurant staff (Rosario went home and got me a non-dairy yogurt out of her own refrigerator because they had run out during our stay), to our teachers: Michael, Brigita, Diane and Danielle. The entire staff made our stay absolutely the best.

Once we arrived, we had dinner at the Blue Heron. Currently, it's the only restaurant open at Sunrise Springs, even though we saw that the Sage House was also listed. However, we lacked for nothing. We were served healthy, organic, delicious meals morning, noon and night. A light breakfast was part of our package, and on most mornings, that was perfectly fine. I ate vegan meals the entire time there and was treated to some fantastic fare. My husband tried some of the omnivore meals and he was never disappointed. Chef Rocky is definitely a super star at Sunrise Springs!

Our room was a casita with a king-size bed and ample room and it's own private patio. We were surrounded by the cottonwoods on one side and the pool/jacuzzi on the other. And, on our patio was a nest of swallows, whom I swear thought that they owned the place. The room was very quiet and well insulated. We had a thunder storm one night and had to go outside to see if that is what we were hearing.

Plan to stay here in the spa resort during your entire stay. You will enjoy classes in yoga, meditation, art, horticulture, play with puppies, hike, archery, and more. You will eat well. You will sleep well. And you will leave feeling revived and like your eyes have been opened. It's a fantastic place and we will definitely be back for more.

Room Tip: The setting is quiet. The room you choose will be the best one. No matter what.

In September, 2017, we visited again: In our second trip to Sunrise Springs we noticed the resort has grown in a most magnificent way. We were warmly welcomed by familiar staff like old friends and were constantly impressed by the knowledge showcased by everyone there. We attended classes held by some of the medical staff, including Dr. Sally and Michael, and came home with a whole brain full of new self knowledge and peace. Ruth taught several art classes while we were there and I made some treasured totem head dolls and a mini-book. She was patiently shared techniques, no matter the skill level. One new class we took was archery with Billy. It was meditative, fun and I pretty much sucked at it, but Billy was patient and helped me make improvements on the spot.

We feel fortunate to have found this gem in Santa Fe and will continue to come back for more. Each experience has its own take-aways - filled with love, learning and self-acceptance.
