Good food but not your basic burger, lots of beer on tap, small and chill vibe

Don’t ask for ketchup but trust the burger for how it’s served. Ever changing options for beers on tap depending on the season and what is sold out. Gets crowded quickly but easy going crowd.

Yeah...that's a damn good burger. The Office Burger: A juicy, delicious and thick patty topped with carmelized onions, cheese, and fresh spinach (?) on a toasted roll. I wish it was bigger or double the patty. For a good $14, you could be feasting on one of LA's best burgers. Would I say it's THE best? It might be too early for such a verdict, but over-rated it is not. It's one of those burgers you want to duplicate at home. It's that good.

This is no regular restaurant though. It's pretty much a bar that serves food and it's really small inside. You order your food from the bar and seat yourself at any available table or stool with your number, and someone brings you your food. I was in and out of there within 20 minutes, including the 3 minutes it took me to devour that burger. I will definitely be coming back for seconds!

Service was ok, but that's not what you're there for.

Really great burgers and their sweet potatoe fries are amazing! Also an excellent selection of beers in a nice quaint restaurant.

Original Father's Office location. Tasty burgers and no substitutions. The way it should be.

The burger is the shit. No customization like it should be, that's the way the burger was crafted from the hands of Zeus. It's a great place to relax after being out in the sun all day, or fighting a hangover.

Fathers office is one of my favorite places to grab a beer and watch sports. It's gotta mellow il environments and everyone for the most part is really friendly. Definitely a great place to keep it mellow.

My mouth is salivating thinking of Father's Office. Get your mind out of the gutter haha. Father's Office is a gastropub that serves great hamburgers and beers. Their fries are really awesome too. Would recommend their sweet potato fries and The Office Burger. Btw don't try to substitute or add things to the burgers. They are great the way they are.

I've been wanting to try the legendary burger at Father's Office and I was not disappointed. The burger definitely lived up to the hype and the beer selection was on point. I was surprised to find that it wasn't as busy as I had expected and was able to enjoy the Laker game while eating at the bar.

Forever and Always rated the best burger. This neighborhood bar has become famous. It's the burgers - they make them one way and they are memorable! On Melrose, you will enjoy walking off the burger on the short 5 minute walk home.

Just came here for the first time this past Sunday with my friend! I had heard good things about this restaurant from another one of my friends, so I decided to try it out.

I'm not sure what I was thinking, but for some reason I thought this was a burger joint. Wrong. It's basically an ale house/beer/bar type of place with food also served there. A lot of people rave about the Office burger, which gave me the impression that there were several types of burgers and that was their main dish/focus. Unfortunately, the Office burger is literally the ONLY burger on the menu (signature burger). The rest of the menu has an assortment of other food items with no general theme, just your typical American bar type food.

Prepare to have your ID ready upon entry. There's a guy that is present right as you walk in and cards everyone. Supposedly there is usually a line out the door, but since my friend and I went on a Sunday night, we were able to walk right in. However, there were still a ton of people inside and since it's open seating, we were lucky enough to find one table to sit at. The actual restaurant itself is pretty dark/dimly lit and is pretty cramped for space. Good luck trying to find a place to sit if you come with a large party. Since it was only me and my friend and we sat at a large table, two other men ended up asking to sit with us since we had several extra chairs. It's a great social opportunity, but if you aren't into talking to strangers then you might not like this place.

You have to order your food from the bar. After they take your order, they give you a number so they can bring you your food. I ended up ordering the Office burger, which you apparently cannot change ANYTHING about. Can't add anything or remove anything. I heard a rumor that you can't even ask for ketchup to put on it. I was also very excited to try the sweet potato fries because I had seen pictures on Yelp of the fries served in a little mini shopping cart, but when I asked the bartender about them, he said they didn't have the shopping carts anymore because they all got stolen! I couldn't believe it. To be honest, that was one of the things I was looking forward to when going here...oh well :(

Our food felt like it took awhile for us to get. My sweet potato fries came out first, which were oh-so delicious. Perfectly crunchy on the outside, and nice and soft on the inside. They also come with a dipping sauce which pairs perfectly. I later got my burger and ended up taking off the arugula (not a fan), but the rest of the burger was SO GOOD. Some people on Yelp complained that it was too sweet for them, but I thought it was perfect and the blend of all of the different flavors of toppings was absolutely fantastic. Just thinking about it as I write this review makes me want another one! I highly recommend it!

Overall I would definitely come back, especially if I don't have to deal with standing in a long line. I really loved my food and can't wait to eat them again!

The Office Burger, signature burger at Father’s Office, gets a lot of hype. But there is a reason why: It’s supremely flavorful, juicy, and delicious.

There is something so fantastic about Santa Monica and their burgers - Father's Office is, what I thought was an enigma of epic burger proportions, turned out to be just yet another awesome burger on a long list of places in the area. Their menu (no substitutions for anything, please) is kickass, taking a comfort vibe and adding gourmet into it.

The best part of the burgers, besides how juicy and perfectly cooked the meat is, has to be the caramelized onions. It's almost like a sweet, nutty onion jam. I could eat some by itself, out of a jar. Combined with cheese, baby spinach, and a tasty bun, you have a recipe for a downright devilish burger. Pair it with any of the beers on tap the bartender recommends. Or - maybe it's not so much of a secret - get my favorite beer on tap - PLINY THE ELDER! :D :D :D, the deliriously good double IPA from Russian River Brewing Company you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere down in SoCal, or even in the Bay Area where its popularity took hold. Savor it!

What can I say? The Father's Office Burger is THE BEST BURGER in LA! It's 12 bucks. So you just come in, they check your ID then you walk up to the bar and order and then go find seating. The service is pretty quick. Our burger came out in 10 minutes. The burger is perfect, the meat patty is perfect at medium rare. You can see the blood drip. I think the best part of the burger is the caramelized onions! It makes the burger a million times better. The only complaint I have is that they use french bread as the bun, which doesn't really work well for this burger. Other than that, this place is a must try!

Hands down the best burger I've ever had. i think it tasted 100 x better for me and my date because we were starving AND were craving for meat. I'm really curious how they made it so delicious. This is probably the first burger I enjoyed without ketchup.

We were lucky enough to find a place to sit at the bar on a busy Friday night. People around us were social. The atmosphere is pretty loud. Beer selection looked pretty good (I'm not a beer person).

Good luck finding a place to eat during winter on a busy night.

I give it 5 stars for the food and the fun experience I had with my date in March :)

Seriously great burgers here, cooked to perfection exactly the way you order them. I was prepared for this bar to be completely over-hyped, but nope. It really does make awesome food, and the list of microbrews from around California, North America, Europe and beyond is killer. What's not to love? A side of brussel sprouts that costs $8. Yup, it's overpriced. But the staff were really quick, and sitting at the bar while flying solo, I felt right at home.

TIPS:
* Order at the bar, then grab a booth or table (show up early on weekends, or you'll be hanging around forever).
* Bring cash.

So this place has great burgers, great beer, and a warm atmosphere. But what's with paying extra for ketchup?? I use ketchup on everything! Other than that small detail, it's a fantastic place for lunch or dinner...in fact, I'm going again today!
