Cool street not far from the house... Lots to do and see. Farmers Market on Saturday and Sunday. Shops, cafes, restaurants, consignment shops

I'm not a crowd-person (raised on a farm; hometown was about 23,000), so Main Street is my kind of street. I like the more laid-back vibe compared to the kitsch of the Promenade and vulgates who treat the it as a Mecca. South of Ocean Park (i.e., ZJ's and the California Heritage Museum) is a great area. Not the best stores, if that's your thing, but the people are all nice and the scene gets more interesting the closer you get to Venice. There's a farmers' market on Sunday mornings, but (from growing up in the country) I consider such things in cities to be rip-offs and an exploitation of city people... unless you're after specialty honey and the sort. The "market" has things to see and do, other than expensive onions and celery.

Every kind of restaurant and a few clubs and night life activities - blocks away from Rose. Farmers Market every Sunday - where you can eat and sit on the lawn.

Wonderful! Just like at the movies. Very nice place for evening walk. A lot of coffee shops and fresh drinks. Dont miss visiting little Venice, which is a place with amazing houses and a water canal instead of street, just behind the main street of Santa Monica. There is a lot of paid parking lots, but bus line to LA down town is about 45 minutes.

This is where the locals shop boutiques. There are no chain stores on this street. You could spend the entire day here, with the number of shops and restaurants. Its also one block from the beach walk, so fun and sun in one day is possible here.

Main St. in Santa Monica is like the 3rd St. Promenade's slightly more hipster sister. The clothing stores and boutiques here tend to be a little more independent, a little more skater/hipster than mainstream big brands. There are tons of great bars and brunch restaurants on this stretch as well. On weekends, you can also catch the Farmers' Market here.

Wow Santa Monica is always packed but they have good stores and decent restaurants. They just got a new very nice mall. I come here often. Definatly worth the trek from the valley

The british bars rock. Literally have live Beatles band out out of the 60's. Go to the Lobster on the Pier and get the seafood sampler, its a life changer.
