Local from Providencia

This hotel did not impress me. This apart hotel smelled like cigarette, which is something that I despise. It is located in front of the beautiful Parque Bustamante, an awesome park just a couple of blocks away from Santiago’s city center. It is an area that is not very visited by tourist but it is great. There are lots of cafés and restaurants nearby. However, the place did disappoint me. The staff was nice but weren’t interested in answering my enquiries and showing me around. The place is hard to find and it looks more like a regular apartment building that rents some of its flats than a proper apart hotel, where you expect service to be top notch. I just didn’t feel that here.

When I visited this hotel (which really was more like a building of separate apartments for rent) they were undergoing large renovations. What was good about the hotel, in my opinion, is that the renovations didn’t affect the day to day running of the hotel. The aspect I loved most about this hotel was the space. Each apartment came equipped with two bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and bathroom. The bed in the master bedroom was huge — which was a massive plus for me — and I loved the little patio area which led out from the living room. I thought the price was very accessible too. It was just US$100 a day including breakfast. Between four people, that’s just US$25 a day, which is a great price for Santiago, particularly as this hotel is situated close to Bustamente Park and its interesting library.

I was really surprised in a good way by the size of the apartment when I walked in. The kitchen really was complete, with a fully functioning cooker with gas oven and four working gas hobs. There was a lot of space in the lounge area and the balcony was wide enough to sit out on, which doesn’t seem to be the case very often in Santiago when renting apartments. The double bed was also huge and the whole place was light, bright and airy. I really felt comfortable and relaxed. The location wasn’t too bad. You can walk to a nearby tube station in about six blocks, but it wasn’t really the best place for me in terms of going out and partying, or even trying lots of little coffee shops and restaurants, because it’s not close to any of the popular touristy areas like Lastarrias, for example. I’d definitely recommend staying here though, whether with friends or with family.
