A beautiful little city north of The Golden Gate that is even prettier viewed from afar so all the tourist trappings aren't visible.

The houses along the bay in Sausalito take your breath away in their beauty, aesthetic balance, and modern architecture. Next to the amazing houses on the hill and on the main road along the bay water front are restaurants to grab a bite to eat.

A good tip would be to take a bike ride over the Golden Gate Bridge and head to Sausalito that way. You get a nice adventure. It's mostly downhill once you get over the Golden Gate Bridge and to get back just take the ferry back to San Francisco.

I recommend leaving early to get a spot on the Ferry. The lines are known to be insanely long.

Lovely town on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge. Enjoy a short ferry ride from San Francisco and find a cute restaurant to have lunch. Afterwards, take a stroll and explore the many boutiques.

A great little day trip from San Francisco, and so many ways to get there! Many people bike across the Golden Gate, then take one of the ferries back. We took the ferry over from the Ferry Landing and that worked out great. We noticed that those on bikes had to wait a very long time to get back on the ferry, but that might have been because it was on a Sunday. Loved Sausalito, so many little shops, restaurants, and lots of boats to look at.

We took a ferry from the Embarcadero to Sausalito. The downtown is surrounded by some very solid restaurants and upscale boutiques. I took a few friends visiting from Chicago. They were pleasantly surprised and kept commenting about how the town made them feel like they were on a laid back beach vacation.
