This is a must in Savannah. The historic ambience of cobblestone streets, salt-water taffy shops, and seafood restaurants make this a must-see. Parking can be difficult, as well as the steep historic stairways leading down to the area. Although, you can drive the length of River street (one-way) if you wish to preview it before parking.

If you're just passing through Savannah, head to River Street to grab a bite to eat, pick up a souvenir, and enjoy the waterfront! It's definitely the touristy area of the city, but the views are fantastic!

River Street is about a 15-20 minute walk north from our property. Cross price street and turn north on Habersham. Then enjoy a lovely shady walk through several squares on your way to the river. The restaurants at the river are surprisingly good. There are awesome candy stores, souvenir shops and loads of places to get a cold drink. The River Street crowds can get pretty heavy on weekend nights especially when there is a big event going on downtown. The River boat cruises are a nice way to see the river although the dinner cruises have been hit or miss. Sometimes the food has been good and sometimes ...eehh! But River Street is definitely a must see in Savannah. Special spots would be Vic's on the River for a nice high quality meal with a river view and the Rocks on the Roof bar at the top of the Bohemian hotel.

On River Street, in the heart of historic Savannah, you’ll find everything from sweets to teddy bears, Harley Davidson apparel, and art galleries housed inside restored Cotton Warehouses. The working harbor—filled with ships of all kinds, horse-drawn carriage rides and street performers add to the enticement of this idyllic waterfront locale.

Great place to walk around, full of local stores. Plus you can take your drink out in the street anytime you want. I had a great time eating Criolle food. I really felt in love with Savannah.

We suggest going to Harbour Town and travelling to Savannah by boat. The boats will stop at River Street in Savannah and give you several hours to walk around and explore the many shops and restaurants.

I love the old city vibe that this place brings. There are a number of shops from antique to candy to local clothing. Some things are a bit touristy but it's a hot place to go. So many things to do and see

My family visited 2-3 times per year over the past four years. Every time is a good time for the relaxing atmosphere on River Street. I love the restaurants and the local shops as well as strolls along the riverfront while watching the sunset with my family.

Has a little bit of everything for just about everyone with the sights and smalls of the food and the river in front of you and the view of the bridge from Georgia to South Carolina is amazing does cost $1/Hr to park but worth every penny just to walk you can spend a good 2 hours just looking at what's there super nice people very friendly river street is bumpy so I suggest you have a sub or a car nothing that sits really low road does have old railroad tracks and bricks in it which makes it authentic to walk on and see suggest everyone experience it at least once

Lots of local places to shop. Defiantly try River street sweets and grab a free sample of pralines. Usually in the summer every first Saturday they will have a festival going on.

River Street is pretty great -- it's a potential free thing to do (window shopping) and you can explore some of the history of Savannah. There are a number of hotels here if you feel inclined to stay at a spot overlooking the river. If anything, find a restaurant to eat in the area, then take a walk along River Street for all the cute shops and history!
