First and foremost, whoever designed this place has an uncanny sense of direction or is playing a very cruel joke on all who stay here. The hallways wind around in a serpentine manner, with some weird dead ends as well as pointed stone exterior walls, to give it a reptilian look.

Rooms were nice. The balcony overlooked the pool and had a mini fridge as well. There was a larger than average foyer area connecting the closet, bathroom, and the bedroom.

The conference rooms and ballrooms were nice as well. Wifi was very hit and miss throughout the hotel. My cell reception would drop in the ballroom often.

The common areas have a resort feel. There's two pools, a putting green, and an outdoor forum area that looks like it's used for events.

Service was great as well as the cookies.

The Doubletree Paradise Valley Resort surprised me with its sophistication. From the outside, the hotel resort looks nice enough - in face, I really like the interesting design - the massive resort is long, flat and blocky in a way that reminded me of midcentury design. The lobby is huge and sprawling - there are interesting paintings on the wall, a baby grand piano, lots of meeting rooms, and plenty of areas for lounging. Everything feels sophisticated - there were several meetings going on when I visited, and I got the sense this is more of a business hotel than a family destination (although I'm sure families stay here). Every room has a private patio or balcony, and most Old Town destinations are just a few short blocks down the road. I was told that there's also a free local shuttle that takes guests to nearby shops, which is a nice bonus if you don't know the area very well.

Great location, clean and super friendly staff. Has everything I like that made my stay comfortable and want to come back again. Nice pool with a full bar, gym, outdoor tennis court and basketball court.

The Doubletree Paradise Valley Resort offers guests a lot for a little. When I visited, rooms were $60 a night, much lower than anything else in the area. The grounds are huge – around 22 acres – and packed with things to do. There’s a huge pool, an outdoor tennis and basketball court, and a full-sized fitness area complete with its own racquetball court, so if you’re the sporting type this place is for you. The architecture is pretty unique – a sort of spiky brick pattern which reminded me of the trunks of the palm trees which line the gardens out front. There’s a full-size restaurant on site, and the hotel offers a shuttle 2 miles up and down Scottsdale road, so you can get to the nearby Fashion Square and local restaurants with ease. The rooms come in two varieties – premium and standard – with the premium rooms overlooking the grounds inside, worth the extra $10 in my opinion.

Sometimes during your travels you come across a special hotel that really stands out from the others. The Doubletree is that hotel for me. I’ve never been in a hotel where every staff member I came into contact with was not only friendly, but actually loved their job and were truly there to make their guests’ vacations enjoyable and memorable. Aside from the two huge pools – one with a waterfall – the incredible fitness facility complete with racquetball courts and private locker rooms with saunas and whirlpool tubs was a huge highlight. The lobby is interesting – kind of a bringing the outdoors in theme, and the rooms unbelievably high vaulted wood beam ceilings. Upgrade to a cabana suite for an unparalleled feeling of grandeur. Even the fresh baked chocolate chip oatmeal cookies at the front desk are unforgettable!

Beautiful complex, extremely large. I have a bad sense of direction so finding the room was difficult a couple of times lol. The room itself was large and beautiful. Unfortunately no wifi in the rooms, but a very large lobby with lots of sitting area with wifi. Though it can be quite a walk from your room.
