I was excited to visit the Hotel Indigo in Scottsdale because it bills itself as a boutique hotel - I personally love boutique destinations. So, I couldn't help feeling a little disappointed when I pulled up to the hotel. It's massive - so massive I thought I was in the wrong place. This looked more like a giant business hotel. However, the oversized berry-themed decal pasted over the main entry (not sure if it's actually a decal, but that's what it looked like to me) seemed to hint that there was more to this place than just beige-y hotel rooms. You would think that such a large hotel complex would have a huge, bustling lobby, but alas, it's actually surprisingly small. Still, I did really appreciate the fun bursts of color and huge fruit- and flora- statement walls in the lobby, halls and guest rooms. During my visit, it was hard to explore the hotel because there was some heavy duty construction going on next door (a huge building is being erected right beside the Indigo). Despite the dust and noise currently going on, the hotel does score points for being right down the street from most of the Old Town Scottsdale nightlife. You can literally walk to the club from this place. I just wish the hotel was a little quieter and more intimate.

The Hotel Indigo is really into feeling beachy. From its nautilus logo to its cool blue hues everything about this property feels like it would be at home along a sunny stretch of the Pacific. Only it's in Old Town Scottsdale.

This is something I feel a bit divided over: I like that the atmosphere is going for a specific goal, and it does that well. However, it sort of sticks out in the desert landscape of Scottsdale. An oasis? Maybe.

The hotel has an interesting sort of vertical design that sets it apart architecturally; the lobby, along with the bar and balcony overlooking the pool, is on the 2nd floor, and the hotel sits on top of its own parking structure.

The rooms are very well maintained, clean and pleasant. One complaint I can see is that since the double and king rooms share the same floorplan, you're going to be a bit more cramped in the double.

Great location, close to many downtown attractions.

There seems to be a trend among the hotels set in Old Town Scottsdale – 1960s design with a slight spin on the style. This particular hotel comes with a California beach feel. White, sky blue and orange adorn the walls and decor; however, this is the least charming of the bunch. I mean, it’s OK. But it’s very small. The pool is small. The lobby is small and the front desk agents didn’t even acknowledge my presence while dealing with a scheduling problem of the ladies ahead of me. The good news? There are other locations across the globe that might be more interesting. I did appreciate the water with lemon in the lobby to quench my thirst on a hot summer day. And, this hotel is the closest to the hip and happenin’ clubs and bars that make Scottsdale’s scene. Being able to walk or cab close-by is good. Real good.

Whose poppin' bottles? Why you ask? Four of Scottsdale's hottest clubs are .25 miles away, thats why! Ok, now that we got the important stuff out of the way, on to the hotel. When I arrived I received the warm boutique hotel welcome and was made aware of all the cool amenities the property has to offer. Free Wi-Fi and doable fitness center is enough for me for a party weekend. O, and a pool of course. I found the rooms stylish, with masculine feel, like most of the hotels in the area. I was a little concerned how loud it would get at night due to being close to so many nightlife spots but the hotel did a great job of keeping everything quiet and under control if there was any loud yahoos.
