So this resort might not look like much from the road, but it's gorgeous inside. There's a stunning lake behind it where you can canoe or just lay in the hotel supplied hammocks. Rooms here have fairly modern amenities. My two favorite perks were the small reading light and marble countertop. The bath robes here are beyond plush. You'll try one on and want to keep it here forever. Each room also has a balcony, a great feature. It's close by restaurants and shops in Scottsdale and near popular hiking spot Camelback. The staff seemed really nice. My only complaint here is that rooms facing the street do hear a lot of street traffic.

Formerly "the Millennium," the resort recently changed its name to The McCormick. Which makes sense, since it is adjacent to the gorgeous grounds of McCormick Ranch. If you stay here, definitely ask for a room facing the east, which is the side that overlooks the golf course and lake. It's truly a gorgeous view. The resort is not as glitzy as other Scottsdale resorts, but it has a nice, understated charm that I really appreciated. The lobby is very sleek, and there are a lot of amenities here. If you are athletic or want to try your hand at outdoor recreation, the McCormick has a nice tennis court and volleyball court. Of course, there's also golf, and the course here is impeccable. The rooms themselves are not terribly stylish, but they are clean and updated with newer furniture. Plus, every room has its own private patio or balcony.

The Millennium Resort Scottsdale is just a quick drive away from the downtown Scottsdale area, and is close to local attractions such as Scottsdale Fashion Square. Walking into the lobby I was a bit underwhelmed, it isn’t as expansive as other area resorts, but still quite large. The rooms themselves are clean, decorated in the typical Southwestern style, and, if the name of the hotel is any indicator, haven’t been updated in a little over a decade (minus the flatscreen television). BUT – the man at the front desk told me that the Millennium would soon be undergoing renovations, modernizing the rooms a bit, which I think may be needed. The room I saw had a very pretty view of the lake, so ask for one of those if you can. There’s a nicely-sized pool, tennis and volleyball court on-site, along with a restaurant and bar, so there’s plenty to do.

This huge property is truly unique in every sense of the word. From the weird, continuous trapezoid shape to the oddly shaped but spacious guest rooms with jaw-dropping views, it is impossible to have a dull experience here. And with the upcoming renovations scheduled to take place this month, I was assured a visit back would be even more of a good time. From the vaulted ceiling in the all-glass lobby you get a great preview of the fire pit area and gorgeous pool with waterfall. Incredible lake and mountain views abound from inside the inner facing guest rooms and can be enjoyed both in the room and on your private outdoor balcony with built-in bar and high chairs. Rent a canoe, play some tennis or volleyball or head to the indoor/outdoor restaurant/lounge to watch the sun set on another prefect Arizona afternoon.
