For a hostel, this place really kills it. Firstly, location is outstanding, literally opposite Pike Place Market. Then, the staff are awesome and super chilled (walking around in bare feet, you can tell they feel at home). They make a big effort with amenities: eggs and pancake breakfast every morning and free dinner three times a week, several lounge areas, computer zone, laundry, bike rental, and tons of arranged outings and excursions. The bunk beds are even pretty, with solid wood frames, slightly wider mattresses and wrap around curtains.
It feels like they really want to look after you, as opposed to just being in it for the money.

It's only my first night here and I'm loving it. I decided to stay at a hostel, not because of financial reasons, but because I like the friendly atmosphere of hostels. There is a sense of community here, where people share not just stories but also toiletries, food, and tips. It's one of the best ways to meet people who are, most of the time, very open-minded and extremely interesting. You can tell these guys really want you to have a good time in Seattle. They provide free breakfast (eggs, toast, pancakes, juice) every morning, free dinner 3 times a week, free yoga classes 3 times a week along with a myriad of low-cost tours.

The staff is here very accommodating. None of the, "I'm sorry, I don't have the authority to help you with this," or "It's against our hotel policy," or "It's only for our VIP program."

And talk about location!! One block away from the Link Light Tram stop, 10 seconds from Pike Place Market, right on the street where cherry blossom flowers are in full bloom...best deal ever.

If you've never tried staying at a hostel, I recommend trying out this one. You will not be disappointed.

I love the Green Tortoise! It’s really comfortable and so cheap – the bathrooms especially are so much nicer than your average hostel bathroom – the floors are actually heated! The kitchen is pretty big and really well stocked, and because you’re right across the street from Pike Place Market, cooking is definitely an option you want to try. They also offer free dinner three times a week, which is a great way to meet new people – it’s usually something like tacos or pasta, and you can volunteer to help cook or clean up afterwards. It’s great to get the privacy of a hotel, but sometimes it’s so much more fun to stay with other travelers and make new friends. Another bonus is that, especially considering the location, it’s pretty quiet here at night if you’re actually trying to sleep.

This is a great, cheap option with probably the best location you could ask for in Seattle. The hostel is right by Pike Place Market and across the street from the Hard Rock Cafe. You can walk pretty much anywhere downtown from here, and there are tons of cabs and bus stops around too. You’re also only a few blocks from the monorail, which is the quickest way to get to the Space Needle. The kitchen and common areas are pretty big, and the staff is really cool. They’ve also got a few computers with Internet access, and wi-fi is available if you’ve got a laptop. The Seattle Coffee Co next door also has wi-fi and plenty of tables, and their espresso is awesome. For a hostel, it’s as comfortable as it gets – there’s a personal fan and light in each bunk, and the bathrooms are always clean (and private, which is great).
