The Old Market of Siem Reap is situated between Pub Street and the river in the heart of the town. Whether you are intent on shopping or not, it's an interesting area to browse. The outer stalls are given over to tourist-orientated stalls and it's a great place to get a good deal on souvenirs and sample some Cambodian street food. The inner sanctum is where locals go to buy fresh produce including seafood and the aroma can be a little off-putting! I bought a pair of Haviana flip-flops in the market for a bargain price. I presume they are fake, but look good and have lasted really well! There are a great choice of t-shirts too. Prices are good anyway, but bargaining is expected. You can pay in US dollars as well as Cambodian riels.

The Old Market of Siem Reap is market for everything. I got a couple of light pants here and many souvenirs like small bowls, magnets, small purse, and especially great Cambodian cotton scarves. Bargaining is always welcome but don't bargain too hard since everything is fairy cheap already!

The Old Market or "Phsar Char" is only opened in the day and this is where local vendors sell and locals buy from. You can find almost everything under the sun from pots and pans to clothes, from souvenirs to everyday items. There is also a wet market inside - go early and you will see vendors with vegetable bunches, meat sellers, ladies making hot soup noodles and fish swimming in baskets. This is local - so if they see a foreign face, the price of the items will immediately rise! Beware and be ready to bargain.

Nearby the hotel can found many hawkers and market selling fruits and food. Actually the price is quite cheap here but they knew us foreigners, they raised up the price, so the tourist guide advised us to ask the price before eating.

A tourist haunt, no doubt, but walk past the souvenir stalls on the fringes and you'll find butchers, provision shops and hole-in-the-wall eateries that the locals frequent.

Located in the center of Siem Reap, it is the perfect place for a shopping tour to find traditional Khmer trade ware. Here the visitor can find anything from traditional spices to beautiful handmade souvenirs and clothes.

What’s not to like? Psar Chas is the center of tourist activity in Siem Reap. The side closest to sivatha st is geared towards locals filled with various household goods, pots, pans, plastic bins and other tools and hardware. The side closer to the river is filled with a bunch of tourist crap like t-shirts, key chains, bracelets and various trinkets you buy so you can say, “hey I went to Cambodia!” Fun! The middle of the market takes the cake. Come early and you’ll see a vast wet market selling all types of produce, from gourds, seeds, goya, lai chee and other unidentifiable fruits and vegatables. Meat shops line another side with chickens with their street standing erect and buckets of shellfish and fish on ice or being cleaned. You’ll see plenty of locals shopping for ingredients for dinner mixing with tourists bargaining for souvenirs making a strange dichotomy. Grab breakfast for about buck at one of the restaurants in the market.

The Old Market is very touristy, but if you make it to the heart of the market where all the food is it is obviously still functional. The touts are a bit annoying but not aggressive.

You can find some fantastic deals at the Old Market in Siem Reap. My sister wanted to collect a bunch of buddha artwork and we got some great deals. Remember not to accept the first price offered, you can go back and forth for quite some time and end up with a great deal. If you don't like to bargain, you'd still feel like you were getting a deal compared to many other countries.

Though shopping was enjoyable, the heat was unbearable - the air circulation inside the market was horrible and I was very uncomfortable shopping.

The Old Market is definitely worth checking out!

This is the main tourist market, just before Pub Street. Everything from t-shirts, purses, paintings and all other souvenir items. Worth wandering around for an hour, and fun to check it out in the morning because all the fresh fruit and veg are ready for sale. Always busy, but if you want to do any trinket shopping, it's best to scout out here, then make your purchases at the night market ( the prices are better there). Open till about 7 or 8pm.
