This is one of my secret date spots that I'm going to share with y'all. For those that love city lights, this is the best spot in all of So. Cal to visit. It is easy to get to with plenty of parking and provides > 270 degree view of city lights. Tip: bring an extra jacket at night or blanket / picnic in the day!

Beautiful 270 degree view from the mountains of LA to the Palos Verdes peninsula to Long Beach and the deep blue Pacific!
Absolutely breathtaking and great for bringing out-of-towners!
Great place to relax, have a picnic, and to exercise, especially if you like running up hills!

You know those places that are so romantic you imagine it'll be hard to keep your clothes on if someone took you there for an outing?

This is one of those places for me.

I love going on top of this hill and looking at the view, especially at night. I feel so small and insignificant and yet significant at the same time. The park is very clean. I just want to cuddle up with someone on a nice brisk night up on this hill and look down at the city lights and just wonder about what's happening below in Los Angeles, Long Beach, etc. It's like you can see everything and nothing.

PS

It's close to a police station and a Costco.

Where's the best make out spot in Signal Hill?

Yuppers...Hilltop Park. Don't expect any privacy though because when it comes to being able to experience the great views that Hilltop Park has to offer, it's no secret.

On a clear day, you are able to get a 360 degree breathtaking view of Downtown Long Beach, Palos Verdes, Downtown LA, Orange County and the mountains. It does get a little windy up on the hill so I suggest bringing a windbreaker.

I love watching planes and I was able to see a lot of the planes lining up to fly into Long Beach Airport, LAX and OC. How cool is that?

Did you know there's gold up in them hills? Okay, maybe a different type of gold. Black gold or Texas Tea. Some of the pumps are still active and can be heard on a quiet night. I almost feel bad for the gated community that hugs this park because those folks are paying a premium for a gate that doesn't really keep people out. So I don't feel bad because I get to enjoy this park. BTW, not all of the homes around here are part of a gated community, there's a mix of homes, apartments and possibly condos.

There's also a cool little cemented trail that has a workout station spread along the trail. So if you're inclined, you can show off your guns and do some pull ups on the high bars or work on your abs on the incline plank.

It's definitely a cool place to just go and unwind from a rough day or a funk. I'm thinking of running the .2 mi distance from the bottom of the hill which leads to Cherry Ave to the top at least a few times to get a decent workout.

Alrighty, So I went to this park for what was supposed to be a lil bit of fun in the sun and hanging with some yelpers on a Sunday afternoon...

So you get off the freeway and then turn onto Skyline and you start to go up and up and up and up and away around a bend or two. Then you reach a stop sign and look to your left and there is this nice little park. So you immediately think awesome. Take a look around at the beautiful view and go and find parking on this lil cul de sac (only for the park) and hope out of your ride. If you are lucky you can get one of the 7 or 8 slots in the parking lot. If not there is a lot of street parking available.

They have a large grassy sloped area for frolicking with your mutt or munchkins. However bring a towel just to be safe as several parts of the grass were quite saturated and may provide a muddy joy to your pet or kids day, unless you like mud tracked around your ride. In the middle of the grassy knoll are two semi shaded picnic tables. A few trees dot the park here and there as well. However there is a concrete path leading between the tables to the promontory and lookout point. This area has several pay telescopes and a few crenulations.

However the whole reason for coming here is the view. You get about a 270 degree view with some outstanding neigh breathtaking vistas. I am sure at night or dusk/dawn this place is magical. The daytime view was awesome as well even though it was a bit cloudy/overcast while I was there. Absolutely outstanding

The restrooms were disgusting, ok so just the one I had been in. Unfortunately I think someone thought it would be fun to piss on the floor in lieu of the toilet. Apparently they need some help with their aim as well. Seriously... WTH man...

The other thing that I would caution you about is the wind. A windbreaker would be absolutely ideal to have when visiting this place. Otherwise you will be cold and that is not very much fun at all.

There are also no kiddie items at the park. There is not a playground, swing set, tetherball, jungle gym etc to be found.

Regardless this is an outstanding place to go for a quick easy impression on a date sometime. Enjoy your visit!
