campaign to rescue, rehabilitate and release injured animals, but also to educate the young and old alike (of the human variety) about marine turtles and their habitats. Time a visit right in the summer and you can witness the releasing of the new hatchlings, a must-see for lovers of baby animals (and who isn't, really?).

Our three year old LOVED seeing and learning about the giant sea turtles. We happened to be there the night of Christmas wassailing and ended the evening by singing carols to the turtles (ha!)

Fun for all ages; see tons of turtles that have been rehabed and made bionic to save their lives. Call their number to know if a baby turtle release is planned. Car ride from our condo.

This is a great place to visit. See the turtles and learn about this great organizations contribution to preserving our natural resources and protecting the turtles. It fun and educational. Don't let the kids miss this one. My grandkids insist on at least one visit every year when they come for a visit.

It’s sea turtle hatchling season on South Padre Island!
Right now, hundreds of Kemp’s ridley sea turtle eggs are incubating in the warmth and safety of their sandy nests. Under the watchful eye of staff and volunteers at Sea Turtle Inc. (STI) the turtles will eventually hatch and make their way to the welcoming waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
And, if the timing is just right, you can witness the magic of a Kemp’s ridley hatchling taking those first steps to the water during a public hatchling release. Sea Turtle Inc. hosts the releases anytime a nest hatches near dawn.
It’s hard to predict exactly when a nest of eggs will hatch, but STI provides nightly updates via Facebook or twitter, and via the Hatchling Hotline, a phone recording that’s updated each evening and morning throughout hatching season. Folks who sign up to become members of STI will also receive text message alerts the morning of a release.
So, if you want to catch a glimpse of one of the rarest sea turtles in the world, call, go online, and set your coffee pot to perk at dawn.

This is a great family destination. The volunteers provide a very informative program for adults and children. There is no charge but donations are accepted.

Not only is it very educational, but teaches both adults and children compassion for some of the other living creatures that share this earth. Let's you see up close and personal what can be done to help stop the extention of Sea Turtles.

Wonderful rescue center where injured or ill turtles are nursed back to health and hopefully rereleased into the wild. Home of the first prosthetic flipper for Alison. Great fun for the whole family!

See first hand how the injured Sea Turtles are rehabilitated with the hope of being released back into the Gulf. Attending a ' hatchling release' is a must.

I LOVE going to Sea Turtle Inc. Although my favorite thing is to go to a public hatchling or turtle release. It is well worth it!
