excites us most is the concept of curation:creating bespoke menus that speak to each guest's individual preferences and sense of adventure. Taking this approach we hope to build deeper relationships with our guests and deliver experiences that are evocative, emotional and thus very personal. The Restaurant offers a Chef's Tasting Menu each evening of nine or ten courses for $225 per person. Wine pairings are offered for each course for an additional $225 per person. Should you wish to make a selection from the wine list, The Restaurant has a wonderful cellar with more than 1200 labels.

Single most expensive meal I've had this year so far. Food was amazing, as expected. Freshest ingredients from their garden cooked/prepared in innovative ways. Service was superb. 4 stars because I deserve a few more dishes for $400 :p

This three Michelin-starred restaurant is a hit with foodies - just as popular and well-loved as TK's French Laundry (if not more so!). If you manage to snag a reservation, prepare for an evening of culinary mastery. This is essentially a tasting menu experience, with a menu that changes often - about 12 courses - centering on local, seasonal produce - some of which is grown by the restaurant. Each dish is beautifully presented, with absolutely seamless service.

Definitely a wonderful place for a special occasion. Jackets are highly suggested for men (one of the few places in Napa that has a dress code).

It's my deepest regret that I spent my 25th birthday here. I had friends fly in from New York to celebrate with me, so I was so excited that we could share this experience together. However, for all of us, our expectations fell short (to say the least), and I was disappointed that they came all this way for the night we had here.

It started with the hostess who greeted us. She was cold and pretentious, you could tell from the get go, but oh well, she was just the one seating us. But the service continued to go downhill from there.

When choosing our meal for the evening we wanted to go with the chef's tasting menu. While everything looked delicious, we asked if we could all have the tasting menu but add a few courses to share from the a la carte menu. Our waiter wouldn't have it. He said it wasn't possible, and was very unaccommodating. I didn't understand. It's not like we were asking to substitute or do something that would pause the procession of everyone's meal. It not uncommon to add a dish and share it at The French Laundry, so we just couldn't figure out what the big deal was.

Then we had to remind our waiter that two of my friends had food allergies. For some reason he then suggested that we substitute dishes from the a la carte menu and seemed very receptacle here. So tell me, what was the big deal before when we wanted to spend more money on additional dishes? It was ridiculous.

From then on, our waiter realized that he had not set a good tone for our meal and tried to make up for it the entire evening. He went on to ask us if 1) I was Korean. 2) any of the girls wanted cashmere shawls. 3) we had like our food after EVERY dish.

Let me say why this increased our table's irritability. 1) How does asking if I'm Korean have anything to do with our meal? This is a 3 star restaurant? Really? Where is the professionalism? 2) It was 90 degrees outside, why would we want to wear a warm shawl? That makes no sense. 3) We couldn't enjoy our meal, or have a decent conversation with him interrupting after every dish. We just wanted him to stop with the pestering and leave us alone. All he was doing was overcompensating for annoying us earlier, but he was doing the exact opposite of what he should have been doing to fix it.

Now lets get to the food. Maybe our waiter ruined the atmosphere for our dining experience, but the food was not what I had expected and I have had my share of fine dining. The meal started off strong with one of their seasonal heirloom tomato dishes, but after each course, the dishes just didn't hold their own. Our foie gras was extremely salty, and the others were nothing out of the ordinary.

By the time the meal had ended, our waiter had come back out with a dessert that he said he had made special for me. But the only thing he could have really done was give be back the 3+ hours we had spent there.

For the amount of money we spent on this meal, I would have gladly liked a refund so that I could spend it at The French Laundry where the service and food are more on par with the 3 star Michelin calibre we expected. I was seriously appalled by how pretentious the Meadowood had come off. I will have to say that the rest of the dining staff who brought the courses throughout the meal were very friendly and helpful. But the host, our main waiter, and the rest of our experience were sadly what ruined our experience here.

Seeing as how the restaurant continues to receive such high ratings, I'm just confused. Did we come on a bad day? I'd like to try them again, seeing as how most people seem to have a positive experience here, but I'm just too leery. Usually you pay for what you get, but in this case, we spent more here than the other Michelin star restaurants I have been to, and I will never be able to erase the unfortunate meal and service we encountered that evening.

It was definitely a memorable birthday, however not the kind you would hope to have.

Absolutely amazing. Second time I've done back to back French Laundry, then The Restaurant. The food at The Restaurant will introduce new tastes to your mouth and wow you with the creativity of the dishes. The decor is low key, but high quality and impeccably maintained. One of the best in the world, and definitely better than French Laundry in my opinion.

Can't say for certain if it's related to Chef Kostow's recent accolades or just a change in seasons, but over the span of two visits, first in may of last year, and then again earlier this month, I've seen a very dramatic change in his cuisine. Upon my first visit, I discovered very carefully constructed fine dining dishes in the European model but with a core of ethnic references. I could pretty much see the dotted line to his time with Chef Daniel Humm at Campton Place. Now, however, the ethnic flavor references seem much quieter, and the plates have taken a more naturalistic turn. Perhaps his own voice is getting stronger, or perhaps he's starting to integrate the influence of the zeitgeist. Either way, it makes for a compelling dining experience.

As a counterpoint, he has brought on changes in the pastry department, and while the dishes are very interesting and beautiful, I imagine it will take some time for the desserts to find its place with the savory menu.

Nestled in the sprawling lush grounds of Meadowood Resort in St. Helena, the restaurant is elegantly chic and romantic.

It was a true fine dining experience from start to finish. All five of us opted for the 8-course Chef's tasting menu (one vegetarian tasting menu), which was superb - each dish was artfully plated with ingredients picked fresh from their own garden. I was incredibly impressed with the wine pairings. Each wine worked harmoniously with the dish it was paired with. Completely worth the additional $115 (+ Chef's tasting menu = $270).

It was a pleasure meeting young sommelier superstar Rom Toulon and listen to him speak passionately about each wine. We also got to check out the kitchen and rising star Chef Christopher Kostow signed menus for us to take home.

If you're looking to celebrate a special occasion, Meadowood is an ideal choice. Excellent food & wine, spectacular service and serene setting - they are absolutely deserving of their two Michelin stars.
