Description
A family-run winery gone wild (with taste), V. Sattui is quite the vineyard-compound. Playing host to more than a few weddings per year, the vineyard also sees everything else-- from local visitors ... Read more
looking for a quiet picnic to huge groups of out-of-towners looking for a fun tasting experience. After your tasting, be sure to grab a bottle of wine, a wedge of cheese, and a slab of salami from the V. Sattui marketplace, head outside to their beautifully manicured lawn/garden, and enjoy a beautiful Napa Valley day. It's heaven; it really is.

This is place nice. Besides all the wine tasting, it has a great market with a huge selection of cheese. They also have outdoor picnic tables.

Love their wine. After our wine tasting, we purchased cheese and crackers and sat outside. The grounds are beautiful.

A bit pricey, but if your prepared to pay a little extra because of the area it's great! Knowledgeable staff giving you information during the wine tasting. Incredible food and wine and beautiful picturesque gardens to enjoy a picnic.

The red wines are decent for tasting, but the sweet wines are where it's at! If you happen to come at a time when it's less crowded, you can admire the venue for its aesthetics (easily overlooked). It can get a tad more crowded here than at other wineries, but they have barbecue and oysters when the weather's nice, and you can sit at communal tables and make new friends - which, frankly, appeals to me more than the bbq does. Throw in some cheese, bread, and salami from the deli, and it's just like a party. This may sound strange, but a fellow patron may randomly approach you to babysit his/her dog during a quick trip to said deli. Good times.

Fun tasting room with a little market accompanying where you can buy meats and cheeses to enjoy on the picnic area outside.
Can be a little loud and chaotic.

Beautiful Winery didn't get to sample the wines but I will next time. The deli is full of great picnic items however it is pricy! I would suggest this being one of your first spots of your trip to fill up before wine tasting!

V. Sattui is my favorite Napa Valley picnic lunch spot, bar none…. it never disappoints. They have one of the best delis of any winery (in fact they have one of the only ones, due to a law passed many years ago that limits the services that can be offered by a winery, but grandfathered in places like V. Sattui).

The wines are good too, as well as the crush parties.

Great place to picnic out with friends and enjoy cheese snacks as well to enjoy a great bottle wine. When in Napa a must place visited.

Parking is easy with a nice lot and lots of grape wines to take pictures of. Picnic all around the wineyard and tastings to offer. One of my favorite wineries in Napa and not sold in any stores. Make sure to buy a couple of bottles and drink it at home. You can get a cheese tasting and buy some cheese and bread to eat with your bottle outside at the picnic table.

V. Sattui Winery is owned by the same family that runs Castello di Amorosa in Calistoga. It's grounds make it a perfect place to stop, taste and picnic in Napa Valley. You can buy everything you need on-site. There's a cheese shop, deli and a salumeria. Though it can get pretty crowded, there are plenty of oak trees to shade large stretches of grass and many picnic tables.

Wine tasting is NO LONGER FREE. The wine here is pretty bad but I'm not reviewing the wine, I'm reviewing the winery (most notably the picnic grounds and fabulous deli)! This is the best place to have a picnic on busy Highway 29. The picnic grounds are pretty, reasonably quiet and they have nice, shady picnic tables! Get here EARLY (like right at 11 am) if you want a prime spot with no waiting. Head in the deli and grab some goodies and then go get a table. On the weekends you can forget it; the place is overrun at all times of the day (and mostly with ANNOYING and RUDE families that haul their rambunctious kids to a winery -- ugh)!

The deli is great and the people that run this place are very smart entrepreneurs. V Sattui not only loves limos, buses and tours, they CATER to them. The deli and shop has just about everything you could ever want or need for a wine country picnic (even down to disposable plates and untensils sold in a pack for two). Do NOT expect to find a bargain here as everything is marked up. The deli salads are decent but watch out -- that price is NOT per pound, it's either per half pound or 1/4 pound. Pay careful attention or prepare for sticker shock! I've had some hit or miss food at the deli. The cheese counter is a thing of beauty. The deli stocks local bread and sweets as well.

The picnic tables have stern warnings that "no outside food or beverages allowed" but we always see people rolling up with their own personal coolers and we've never seen anybody kicked off the picnic grounds. We always buy something from their deli but we also bring over a few goodies from Dean & Deluca (but NEVER when it's busy). If you don't like birds take note: you'll have lots of friendly little feathered friends hopping by your picnic table to see if you can spare a bite of bread!

They have an extensive delicatessen in-house so you can pick up your lunch as you taste a flight. They have lovely grounds and if the weather is wet, they will open up one of their cellars for you to dine.

V. Sattui winery is on my top list of place to eat for lunch. Buying our lunch meal at the market was incredibly expensive yet so worth it. I felt in love with their variety selection of cheese. Their tomato balsamic vinaigrette was so delicious that we had to splurged and get the whole bottle for $16 to dipped with our bread.

After gathering all our food that we bought from the market, we sat at the picnic area to enjoyed our lunch. It was a wonderful experienced and would love to come back here the next time I am in Napa.

This winery is amazing! Every time I get up to Napa, I have to stop at V. Sattui. The winery has a beautiful picnic area, nice deli to pick up some cheeses and sandwiches, and a big selection of wines to sample in their tasting room. If you do their tastings, it costs $5.00 for the Classic Tasting which you can sample 5 of their popular wines, and $10.00 for the Premium Tasting which you can sample 6 of their vintage and estate wines. I've become a fan of their Rieslings and dessert wines, in particular the Madeira. This place is usually packed on the weekends, so come early or be ready to wait, especially during peak hours. But I promise, the wait is well worth it!

I read through a ton of reviews and decided to come. This winery is fun; picnic grounds and BBQ area! Drink some wine and grab some BBQ or other items from the deli inside.

We headed to the tasting area and immediately we were welcomed to a spot. I'm a huge Yelper too, and what do you know, there's a check-in deal for 2-for-1 deal on wine tasting. The two of us got to taste 6 wines for $10 instead of $20!!!!

I'm just starting to appreciate wine. The wine pourer was a really nice lady, super energetic, and made recommendations on my tastes...loved the Off-dry Riesling, Muscat, and Gamay Rouge! Oh yeah, we got a bonus tasting of the Angelica - a blend of brandy and Muscat juice...interesting.

V. Sattui really set the tone for my first Napa Valley trip as my first winery. It's a neat place for families to go and enjoy themselves in beautiful weather.

Highly recommended winery on many guide books and online reviews. To be honest I actually didn't expect their wine to be good. I assume people like this winery more because of their BBQ, deli and cheese selection. Perhaps the reasonable tasting fee as well.

The wines are actually very impressive. Let me get to that in a second. V. Sattui is a pretty big winery with a lot of outdoor picnic tables. Keep in mine though, the tables are sometimes reserved for their private BBQ customers only. I don't think outside food is welcomed here. Their deli and cheese counters are good. You can pick up all your picnic items from there.

The tasting room is huge but is also very crowded. Quite different from the usual lay back, quiet and relaxing atmosphere I am used to. I haven't seen their reserve room (in a separate building) so I am only commenting on their regular tasting room. On the good side, tasting fee is only $5 and they are very generous with the pour.

I really like their wines. The 08 Chardonnay is almost a steal at that price. It is easy on the nose with a clean and crispy fruity taste. 07 Reserve Pinot Noir is quite good but priced accordingly. The cabs are mediocre. Dessert wines are definitely excellent here. I personally dislike port but I found their 1998 vintage port to be quite enjoyable. It is smooth and strong but not overwhelming. The 09 Muscat and 10 Moscato are everyone's favorite.

Next time around I will try their reserve tasting room.
