colorful aspens and stately pines give a feel of backcountry skiing with the ease of a resort, and the consistent fluffy, powdery snow brings skiers and boarders back year after year. The natural scenery on the mountain is complemented by the Ski Time Square village, and Old West-tinged area filled with all of the amenities of a larger town -- restaurants, bars, upscale hotels and casual condos, and plenty of non-skiing activities.

The base of the mountain is the hub of town during Winder months and is the place to be for kids and adults alike. The Gondola is located here, several ski rental shops and ski school, as well as several dining establishments and stores. For all the times and activities, call 970-879-6111 or go online to www.steamboat.com You can also take the family for a sleigh ride, in a snow cat from the top of the Gondola to Ragnars, for a 5 course Scandinavian dinner. Lots to do here all year round, so call them and ask what's going on while you're in town!

World-class skiing with 2,965 acres of permitted terrain for all levels of skills. Fine dining, wedding facilities, legendary Champagne powder snow. In summer, take your mountain bike up the gondola for 50 miles of trails.

I've skied almost every resort in Colorado and my favorite resort is Steamboat. You hardly ever wait in line, the resort constantly tops Colorado resorts in snowfall and the people are frinedly and down to eath.

Condo is located only 200 yards from the gondola/base of the mountain. 165 named trails. If you are looking for "champagne powder", you will find it here!

Skip the front range crowds and head to Steamboat where the lift lines are short and the runs are long. A family destination with skiing for all and a excellent base area with many evening events.

Don't forget to visit in the summer -- hiking and biking with a Gondola ride to the top.

Awesome champagne powder, real people (very little fur and matching outfits), and great food. A lot of infrastructure has been done in the last few years, and it's very family friendly!

Beautiful mountain. Locals are a great mix of ski bums and cowboys/cowgirls. #staytruetoyourroots

CHAMPAGNE POWDER: the best kind of snow. Powder snow in Steamboat was different from what I was used to back in California. It was so soft and fluffy! Two days here was not enough.

For the best conditions, my friends and I hung out around Sunshine and Storm Peaks. The blue and black diamond runs were great for snowboarders. We stayed local to the upper half of the mountain, only heading down past Thunderhead Peak for lunch or at the end of the day. We found the runs icy and hard-packed near the base area. Also, beware of the green runs. They were long, flat traverses. No fun for snowboarders.

Steamboat had the best on-mountain food I've ever had. My favorite lunch spot was Hazie's, a fine dining restaurant in Thunderhead lodge at the top of the Gondola. Their gourmet soup and salad bar was all-you-can-eat for $15. They also had unforgettable views of Steamboat's village and valley below.

Steamboat had both free and paid parking options. To be closer to the village, we opted to pay the $15 for garage parking.

Overall, I can't wait to come back again. A very memorable trip. It's my favorite ski resort to date.

The conditions here are amazing - skiers and snowboarders' heaven. Such a huge variety of runs as well. The shuttles that run around town are also a huge convenience.

I grew up in Colorado, and Steamboat has a special place in my heart. It is one of the nicest ski areas in Colorado - a big mountain, great snow, and unlike most mountains, has big groves of white-trunked aspen trees to ski through - both magical and slightly less dangerous than tree-skiiing among pines since there are fewer low hanging branches to get snagged on. Steamboat is a bit off the beaten track - 3 hours from Denver versus 90 minutes to places like Vail or Summit Valley - but this distance helps it retain its small town charm versus the slicker towns like Aspen or Vail. Highly recommended.
