This was one of my first areas to go skiing. They have nice facilities and the mountain has something for every level.

Check out the Stowe Antique Car Show on August 12-14. Spend the rest of the day exploring Stowe. Bring your bicycles and enjoy one of Vermont's finest bike paths. Michael's on the Hill for dinner or the Trapp Family Lodge.

Stowe Mountain Resort is about 45 minutes from us but worth the drive to check out the town and maybe take a day trip to ski. Stowe has a gondola that is open year round - for skiing in the winter and for sightseeing in the summer/fall!

Stowe is Vermont at its covered bridge and cheddar cheese best. Home to a ski resort of some repute, Stowe also boasts a quaint and historic town center lined with 18th century churches, antique hotels and general stores. The town proper is definitely worth an afternoon of wandering and browsing.

The most famous resort town in Vermont, just a 15 minute drive from the house. Country stores, restaurants, the six-mile long recreation path for skiiers, bikers and kids... etc.

A church steeple rises over this quaint colonial town chartered in 1763 amid the Green Mountains. Vermont’s highest peak, Mount Mansfield, is here, as are both double-black-diamond trails and plenty of beginner runs. Aside from skiing six distinctive areas at Stowe Mountain Resort, there are simple pleasures like the Ben & Jerry’s ice cream plant, old-fashioned Shaw’s General Store, and Solstice, whose dreamy views of Spruce Peak and seasonal, locavore dishes conspire to make it one of America’s most romantic restaurants. If you’re in the mood, splurge on a stay at Topnotch, where a hot-stone massage caps off a day on the slopes.

Stowe is quintessential Vermont. Crisp air, lush green mountains and meadows, and blue skies pocked with clouds (at least in the summer, when I visited). The hiking here was fantastic - beautiful views of green tree covered mountains and valleys.
