Very historical place. Easy to get lost but you probably wouldn't mind because everything is very beautiful and has a story.

The heart of this great city. You could explore the old town for days and see something new. Architecture, food, drinks, there are endless amounts of culture to be discovered.

Old Town Tallinn, started by the Danes, home to the Teutonic Knights and a part of the Hanseatic League, its ancient splendor has been well preserved. I rank it at least equal to Old Town Stockholm and Heidelberg.

Full of narrow alleyways, steps and closes, the old town of Tallinn is a great place just to wander and get lost. There are plenty of shops and restaurants hidden amongst its streets and the pleasure is coming across somewhere that nobody else seems to have discovered.

Tallinn is exceptionally beautiful. The whole old town feels like it popped out of a fairy tale.

I had an awesome time exploring Old Tallinn! I trekked through snow and ice but it was worth it! The historic area is fairly compact, so it is easy to explore and if you love historic old buildings, then you can't miss it!

Smaller and more compact than Old Town Riga and Old Town Vilnius, it is my favorite in the Baltic states.

I've been here twice! The first time was September 2007 and I loved the architecture of the buildings, the medieval vibe of the town, the cobble stone streets, and the stories and history of this town. When I came back in November 2011, I remembered how easy it was to navigate my way around the town even though the streets can be a bit of a maze. Somehow you always find your way back to Town Hall Square or the water well or some type of landmark. The friendliness of the locals can be hit or miss. So far I've found that with the females, the younger they are, the nicer they are. The men that I've talked to have been helpful and nice. I'm a fan of Old Town Tallinn and would love to come back! :)

Old Town Tallinn is absolutely gorgeous. It's a medieval town and you can practically imagine what it was like back in the days. The buildings are well preserved, it's probably my favorite place in terms of being able to experience a bit of medieval history. People actually live within the walls, there are tons of souvenir shops and some really great cafe's and restaurants! I loved it there!

Enjoy the renovated buildings, in there are antique shops, handycraft shops and restaurants. Look at the different styles of buildings, on the important historical buildings are information plates with some words of explication both in Estonian and English.

One of Europe's best preserved old towns, this was the center of medieval trade for Tallinn. People watching, street performers, & eateries abound. Walk around the square and imagine what it was like so many years ago!

Charming, beautiful and easily walkable. I have a feeling that Tallinn will soon be like Prague, where everyone knows of its beauty. But it's still off the beaten path enough that you feel like you can explore without being too much of a tourist. If you're a photographer, there are some awesome shots, of the cobblestone lined streets, colorful doors and more.

Old Tallinn is a cool place to go for a stroll. From the ferry harbour all of it is within walking distance. Be sure to take your camera with you and reserve time to shoot both in the early morning and late in the evening when the shadows and light make the city even more interesting. Lots of twisty old roads to navigate. Eat at Old Hansa in medieval style. Walk to the top of the hill and see the metal boot of Pikkujalk. On a spring and summer day this can be a wonderful place to go.

The old town is the reason to go to Tallin. Named a World Heritage site, the city center is lined with beautiful, brightly colored historic buildings, with nice coffee shops, restaurants, and bars. Definitely try to find a hotel in the old town. New Tallin is nothing to write home about - a typical, someone drab modern city.
