The Russalka Monument stands overlooking the crashing waves of the Baltic Sea in Pirita. The forlorn, yet grand monument remembers those Estonians who lost their lives when the ship 'Russalka' was sunk in the Baltic Sea with all hands on board lost. The Estonians raised the memorial several years later to honour those who died, and it's since become a tragic symbol of the city's relationship with the ocean.

Everyone knows the tragic story of the Titanic, but few know of the “Russian Titanic.” In 1893, Russia’s version of an unprecedentedly luxe cruise liner, the Revele, crashed into the coast of Estonia. Few onboard survived. The monument, located at the crash site, stands as a guardian to the souls of those who perished. Today, Estonians leave locks at this memorial in honor of loved one who have dies, so that their souls may also be watched over.

It is a very beautiful monument by famous Estonian sculptor A. Adamson in Kadriorg right on the coast of the Baltic Sea. Popular spot to visit for married couples on their wedding day for its romantic location and appearance.
