The castle houses Estonian Parliament and each morning the tower has flag hoisted with national anthem. There is also viewing terrace on the foot of the tower but it does not have the best view on town facing mainly former blue collar areas of town.

Home to today's Estonian Parliament, Toompea Castle and its Tall Hermann Tower are the popular symbols of Estonian nationhood. The west wall and the tower are part of the original medieval fortress. The Russian tsars constructed another portion of the castle and the Estonians constructed still another portion during their first independence period in the 1920s.

While access to the interior and to the tower is limited, a walk around a portion of the castle walls, beginning on a path not far from the train station and going towards the tower, provides a number of great photo opportunities.

Fun to walk around and explore! If you can, take a tour to get the full history of this place. Also, Toompea is just fun to say :)

This is the place we're parlement houses, there is no entrance in the buildings for the general public, but the surroundings are free for the public to enter. Go on the left side of the main building in to a little park at the end you have a panoramic view and a 'Kodak'-moment.
