Texas Vacations

America's second largest state is no joke: big enough to be the butt of cessation jokes and to earn a reputation of "a whole other country," Texas is a world in itself. With seven distinct geographic regions, widely different landscapes (from rolling hills and deep canyons, to vast deserts and sprawling beaches), the Lonestar State is as diverse as ... Read more
they come. Texans may be rugged on the outside, but inside there's an art aficionado for every cowboy, and an opera lover for every bull-rider. Explore some of this culture at the capital, Austin, known for being the "live music center of the world" with a huge choice of clubs and venues to take advantage of. Austin's little sisters are Houston, home to Texas' symphony and ballet; San Antonio, featuring historical sites such as the Alamo; and Dallas, where high heels meet cowboy boots on the same block. There are a number of Mexican influences due to their shared border, such as Tex-Mex food - though don't forget to indulge in some hearty Texan BBQ.

The best time to visit Texas is in the spring (late March to May) when the weather is nicer and rodeos are in season. Springtime is also ripe for outdoor activities like fishing, hunting, camping and birding, ... Read more
while the cooler temperatures of autumn (September to November) lightens the crowd. June to August tends to be the busiest season since kids are out of school, so you’ll find more tourists at the state’s most popular attractions and have to endure sweltering temperatures. Nonetheless, this is a great time for visiting theme parks and enjoying water sports at one of the state’s beaches, lakes or rivers.

Live Music Capital of the World, cultural epicenter and most exciting city in the world: I am referring to Texas in the USA. The Lone Star State has undergone a rebirth. Edgy and vibrant, beyond the cowboy boots and steaks, you can eat gourmet vegan and hike 120 state parks. As oil giants are moving in, cash injections are fuelling an electric music, art and gourmet scene.

Houston is emerging as a gourmet gastronomy destination with upmarket restaurants Caracol, Underbelly and America's River Oaks in town. Browse antique shops and quirky coffee shops at The Heights or shop till you drop and quench your thirst at the bars in the upscale Town & Country Village. Refresh and rejuvenate at Trellis Spa, The Houstonian, an urban oasis. Split your time between the effortless luxury of the Royal Sonesta and Sorella Hotels for the best of both locations.

Edgy East Austin bears the logo ‘Keep Austin Weird;’ boys with big hearts and girls with ghetto grunge. Austin is famed for music festivals (SXSW), dive bars and honky tonk saloons. Stroll to 6th Street entertainment, restaurants and bars.

With direct flights from Australia to Dallas via Qantas and from London to Austin via BA, which started earlier this year, Texas is where it’s at for 2015.

Big, vast, sprawling, hot, dry...just a few words that come to mind when I think of Texas. Texas is a driving state and expect a three to four hour road trip between major cities. Dallas, Austin, and Houston all have their own unique character, and you can smell the oil when you head through Luling. There is nothing quite like the pine forests of east Texas or the deserts of west Texas. Find some leather soled cowboy boots and explore!

The vast majority of Texas is filled with empty flat lands and the humid temperature can make it unbearably hot. Having said that, Texas has lots to offer. Austin is a cool city. Houston, while not the most attractive, has the best food scene in terms of multicultural diversity.

Aha, the place where handsome, hunky, sexy Cowboys roam. Visit Dallas, see dinosaur bones, a city where roses are abundant..Tyler, Dallas Cowboys, Speedway Race track and the oil rigs.
