The Best Places to Shop in Bali

Known for being master negotiators, the Balinese can haggle prices with you till the sun comes up. They know that visitors come to Bali looking for products they can't find anywhere else. Handmade home pieces, gold and silver and even cute little souvenirs are all in hot demand. Every street you walk on has at least 15-20 little stores and shops ready to invite you and offer the most competitive prices until you agree. This list outlines all of the best shops all over the island. Hopefully it's helpful for your next trip, but maybe not too helpful. Otherwise, you may need to buy an extra suitcase! Happy shopping!

1. Ikatbatik

Monkey Forest Street, Ubud 80571, Indonesia

At this amazing store, you can find absolutely anything you want for your home. From plush pillows, to beautiful clothing, drapes, table clothes, floor runners - so much of it is done using batik design. Honestly, it is a textile lover's paradise! There is a huge range of different designs and styles, something for everyone's taste. Don't expect to bargain here. What you see in terms of price is what you pay for. However, the money is benefiting local craft experts which makes spending a lot of money here not feel quite so bad.

2. The Offering Canggu -- CLOSED

Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong No.14, Canggu, Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

Trendy little boutique store that offers high quality swimwear, gorgeous maxi dresses, cute accessories and so much more. I bought a few tops and 2 dresses plus some bracelets and earrings to match on my last trip. had it not been for the lack of space in my suitcase, I probably would have been back for more!

3. Love Anchor Canggu Bali

Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong No.56, Canggu, Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80351, Indonesia

Brightly lit up at night and always full of people, Love Anchor Bali is a must see. It is a small indoor market housing lots of little stores, shops and stalls where you can find clothing, accessories and so many souvenirs. The clothing shops are so cute (everything in Canggu is amazing) and the stalls and stalls of accessories make your head spin. I ended up getting a few small rings and bargained the heck out of them! It's a staple of Canggu and should definitely be on your list of places to check out anytime you're in Canggu.

4. Blue Stone Botanicals

Jl. Dewisita No.1, Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571, Indonesia

This cute little shop offers natural skin care products including body oil, lip balm, soaps and body mist. According to the shop owner, their body mist is made with filtered rain water. How cool is that? They are also famous for their lemony mosquito repellent. I actually bought some (after taking yoga at Yoga Barn and smelling how delicious this stuff smells, how soft it is on the skin and how effective it actually is, I couldn't resist). All of the scents in the store are not strong and neither are all of the scents for the products they offer. The small bars of soap make for excellent travel accessories or even for souvenir gifts. The store is in a fantastic area that is full of small stores, shops, cafes and restaurants.

5. Above the Clouds Natural Wear

Jl. Nyuh Bojog No.13, MAS, Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571, Indonesia

A cool men’s clothing brand designed and produced ethically in Bali. Their product range is a bit limited, but the store itself is pretty small, so it makes sense that they don't have much product. The merchandising was on point, all their displays were so trendy. The product itself is excellent quality and beautiful colors. The service we received was incredible. We learned from the shop worker that all the product they use is local and traditional weaving and dying techniques are used. The best part is that they believe highly in the quality of work they provide for their workers and pay them fair wages. It was incredible to hear so much about this lovely company and of course, that only made us buy more!

6. SOUQ seminyak

Jalan Raya Basangkasa No.10 Opposite Basangkasa Market, Kerobokan Kelod, Kuta Utara, Seminyak, Kuta, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

Green and eco-friendly store filled with beautiful things. Souq combines traditional designs and gives them an updated modern look. It's pretty spectacular to see this throughout their selection of clothing, furniture and especially jewelry. They also have a cafe area where non-shoppers can happily wait until their group is done shopping or you can simply stop by after making your purchases and indulge in a delicious latte. Speaking with the staff helping us that day, we learned that Souq works with many local artisans with very traditional skills and cultures. Their mission is to help these artisans keep their traditional skills and culture alive for future generations. It was very impressive and an absolutely beautiful store to walk through.

7. Kupu Kupu Foundation Gallery

Jl. Kajeng No.32, Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571, Indonesia

A fantastic shop that houses so many beautiful wooden sculptures, we had to take pictures to decide what to buy. The prices are fair, especially for the level of craftsmanship that obviously goes into each of these pieces. You can't help but want to buy everything in the store, it's all so beautiful. They offer shipping, which is so convenient - especially if you want to buy multiple pieces, for souvenirs, etc. In this particular shop, they hire people with special needs to work with them, which I found to be amazing. It's worth a visit to this lovely store, even if it's just to take a look at the fascinating work.

8. Somewhere

Jl. Raya Seminyak No.24, Seminyak, Kuta, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

Trendy store at really affordable prices. They offer everything from printed t's, to flowy dresses and jumpsuits, to cute accessories. Everything is geared toward a younger demographic. Lots of nice beach stuff, perfect for your time in Bali and you can give away or leave behind if you can't fit it in your suitcase.

9. John Hardy Ubud Workshop and Showroom

Br. Baturning, Mambal, Abiansemal, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80352, Indonesia

Quite possibly one of the most beautiful boutiques I’ve ever been to. The space is massive and rightfully so - John Hardy was established in Bali in 1975. The buildings themselves are such a site to see. They are made of bamboo, giving the impression of bamboo cathedrals. The decor all around the store was so elegant and felt perfect for the setting. It was such a special treat to be able to get an inside look at how the jewelry is made and the intricate process each piece goes through in order to give it the John Hardy aesthetic. Even if you don't buy anything, you should definitely stop by and get the tour. But be warned, you're probably going to end up buying something!

10. Kuta Leather And Tailor

Bakung Sari Street no 16 | Denpasar, Kuta 80361, Indonesia

I came to find this wonderful establishment through recommendation of the front desk of my hotel. I wanted to see if they could make me a purse. The concierge at my hotel said they were the absolute best. He was right! I provided them with the exact specifications of what I was looking for and they said it would be no problem. Their customer service and care for each step of the process was exceptional - it was such a joy working with them! Anytime I spoke with them, they were always so warm and friendly - they treated me as though I was family! The purse was ready a few days later and was exactly what I was looking for, it was perfect! Excellent workmanship, good value and very quick. I can't recommend them enough.

11. Beachwalk Shopping Center

Jl. Pantai Kuta, Kuta, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

Beachfront shopping center filled with beautiful designer boutique shops. Prices are high but it is expected when you see the designer labels and the quality of their product. There are lots of children stores as well as things for them to keep busy while you shop, which is amazing and helpful for parents.
There are also tons of restaurants and cafes to enjoy, including a really cool rooftop restaurant and bar to enjoy once the sun is setting.

12. Flea Market Oberoi

Oberoi Street, Seminyak, Indonesia

Large flea market with many different stalls/kiosks selling everything from clothing to purses to souvenirs. It didn't have too many people the day I visited, which was great for shopping. I found a few dresses I loved. They have mirrors so you can try on and you can negotiate prices for everything. Many of the stalls had similar styles of clothing but everyone was very friendly and willing to accommodate whatever your needs were. Went back twice, it was a great little shopping area.

13. Ketut Art Shop 14

Jl. Saha Dewa Gg. Sorga no. 2, Legian, Indonesia

Perfect spot if you don’t like to barter, but you still want the good prices of the markets. The owner's prices are more than reasonable and she even offers you cold water while you shop! The place has been here for years, the owner knows her stuff, loves her customers and is an absolute delight to shop with. The best part about shopping at Ketut Art Shop is that there are fixed prices, so there is no need to haggle, prices are competitive and she has plenty of stock and larger sizes! It is truly a hidden gem in Legian.

14. Mendira House

Jl. Mendira, Manggis 80811, Indonesia

A perfect escape just steps away from the Candi Beach resort, Mendira house is a gift shop and a small cafe in one. It offers great coffee, refreshing coconut water, delicious ice cream and tons of good snacks. It is beautifully set up and well done, the staff is so friendly, the owners are lovely owners and overall, it is a place worth visiting. Prices are reasonable and border on the low side. There is outside seating available so you can stop and watch the world go by with a wonderful cup of coffee.

15. Night Market

No.2, Sel.,, Jl. Pungutan, Sanur, Denpasar Sel., Kota Denpasar, Bali 80228, Indonesia

Visiting the Sanus night market is like an expedition for the senses with its local food stalls cooking up anything from lamb satay to fried rice at very local prices. The night market is actually the nightly transformation of the traditional Sindu market where most of the locals source their daily necessities and morning groceries. It is quite an experience and something all travelers to Bali should see!

16. Kou Cuisine

Jalan Monkey Forest, Ubud, Indonesia

I was mesmerized by the dainty and beautiful shop while strolling around Ubud. For jam lovers, this was like stepping into heaven. Testers provided the chance to try all the specialty jams and were supposed to help you decide what to get. Instead, this made me more indecisive! The best thing about this shop is that everything is naturally produced and doesn't contain any artificial ingredients. They pack them up nicely for you so they don't break in your suitcase on your way home.

17. Maidenlove Bali Store

JL. Kayu Aya, No. 8, Oberoi, Seminyak, Kerobokan Kelod, Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

The cutest little boutique selling bathing suits, women's clothing and amazing accessories. The staff is so friendly from the second you walk through the door. Cool music plays as you walk around in the air conditioned room taking in all the beautiful product this store offers. I ended up walking out with 2 dresses and a hat, which I desperately needed (the hat, not the dresses). It was a wonderful shopping experience!

18. Sindhu Market

Sanur, Denpasar, Indonesia

As markets go, this is a relatively small one. Typically, if you need some fresh fruit and vegetables, there is the morning market. If you want some cheap dinner, you go to the night market. The best thing about this market in particular is the food, they always feature a great selection of many types of foods, both spicy and sweet. My favorite is a stall that makes a crepe-like pancake and adds nutella and bananas. It's so sweet but so so good. You can also get drinks from any stall to have with your food at inexpensive prices.

19. Toko Emporium

Jl Oberoi No 1, Seminyak 80361, Indonesia

As I was walking to my hotel one hot morning in Seminyak, I saw this shop and was very impressed with the merchandise, so of course, I went in. The staff was friendly, they warmly said hello but gave me the opportunity to look around at all their offerings. They had so much stuff! Jewelry, sandals, paintings, handbags, home decor, etc. It was a wonderful place to shop for gifts and home goods! The best part about this shop is that all products are locally made and beautifully displayed. Definitely worth visiting to see some pretty cool things.

20. Samasta Lifestyle Village

Jl. Wanagiri no. 1, Jimbaran 80361, Indonesia

Lovely village with lots of little shops and cafes with very tasty food. If you stop by this village, make sure to go to Gaya Gelato for the best ice cream in Bali. Favorites include Pistacchio, Rocky Road and Stracciatella. There is a magnificent water fountain in the center of the shopping village that is beautiful to see in person. While I visited in September, there were still a few empty spaces for future shops which goes to show they are expanding. It's a great day for shopping or day out for the family.

21. Feather and Find

Jl. Kayu Cendana 2, Seminyak 80361, Indonesia

A beautiful shop in Seminyak offering printed Bohemian dresses and jumpsuits. I kept going back to Feather and Find during my short stay in Seminyak. There was just so much to see - I loved it all. Each time I stepped into the store, I walked out with a new purchase in hand! The staff provide excellent customer service and are so friendly. They help you find exactly what you're looking for and will even track it down if you can't find it. This store is on my list for future trips to Bali!

22. Magali Pascal

Jl. Raya Seminyak No.62, Seminyak, Kuta, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

Beautiful boutique shop in Seminyak with Parisian inspired clothing. Many of the pieces were gorgeous fabrics like silk and various laces - it reminded me of the lace you see in Burano, Italy! There are many trendy pieces and some accessories. I, of course, was drawn to the jewelry and ended up buying a beautiful amethyst stone ring. The staff was very friendly and the location was perfect, away from the hustle and bustle from the center of the city and in a part of town where there are more boutiques and high-end restaurants. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for designer-like pieces at more affordable prices.

23. Jenggala Factory Outlet

Jl. Sunset Road No.1, Kuta, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

We went to the factory/showroom and were amazed at what was available. The quality of the ceramic items was most excellent and the prices not bad at all. Good range of colors of the different settings and the sizes and shapes are fascinating. This outlet had beautiful pottery and glassware at affordable prices. It was a great place to get great gifts for family and friends. They will also pack your purchases in 'shippable' boxes to be checked as baggage on planes.

24. Five Art Studio

Jl. Raya Keliki, Ubud 80571, Indonesia

On my last trip to Bali, my friend and I attended the Batik painting class at Five Art Studio. We really loved the experience. The instructors were very attentive and available whenever you needed them. We chose Five Art Studio because you can make bigger batiks than at some other courses and you can also create your own designs, if you choose. Surrounded by rice fields, the location is amazing and really tranquil place. Overall, a wonderful time and experience - perfect for an outing with friends or loved ones.

25. Celuk Village

Gianyar, Indonesia

Visited this place on the way to Ubud through the recommendation of our driver. It's not a village, but rather, a big jewelry showroom and workshop. The exterior of the building is wonderfully carved. If you are interested in learning how the jewelry is made, you will love this place. Celuk Village is an absolute must visit if you want to buy silver jewelry with intricate designs.
