and rivers, most of Alaska’s major highways and railroads meet at a junction here. Those very same highways and railroads were what caused Tok to grow so rapidly during the building of Alaska’s extensive infrastructure. The natural location meant that workers building the new roads and rails frequented Tok often, requiring much maintenance and upkeep capital to flow into the city. Tok quickly gained the nickname “million dollar camp” as improvements quickly built up. As with much of Alaska, visitors to Tok are most likely on their way to enjoy outdoor activities. Visitors hoping to enjoy some of Tok’s million dollar night-life might instead want to try somewhere else, as Tok is truly only a play-place for the outdoorsmen/women among us.

I have lived in Tok Alaska since 1997. It is wonderful neighborhood. I have moved to Wasilla, Alaska in January 2012.

Definitely outbin the middle of nowhere. Very remote, beautiful scenery.
