This street is name in honor of Sir George Yonge who never actually visited York, or Canada, but he had a keen interest in ruler-straight Roman roads, which Yonge St. resembled. The story goes that John Graves Simcoe, the founder of York (now Toronto,) selected the name as a shout-out to his English friend, who was a UK member of parliament and Secretary of War. One of the busiest streets in Toronto - must see!

Quite possible a favorite for many with its long and never ending neon shining lights taking over the major part of the downtown area. Probably more charming by night but still, for me, not a major interest during my stay in Toronto.

The always popular, always entertaining Yonge Street. Known as the longest street in the world. Yonge St. South of Bloor, takes you down to the Lakeshort, North of Bloor can take you as fare as Lake Simcoe. Lot's of shopping, dining, characters, and sights to be seen.

Yonge Street is kind of to Toronto what 5th Avenue is to New York City. It's a main drag of the city where all the trendy things are located. Worth it to stroll down and observe. I wasn't insanely impressed with it, but it was something to do.

This was considered the longest street in the world. In Toronto it is the most diverse. The number of shops and eateries is incredible and it always seems to be changing. At night it has a completely different vibe.
