Traverse City Vacations

Traverse City is a town in northwestern lower Michigan. Its economy centers on agriculture, wine production, and tourism, making it one of the most important centers in the region. soil that allows for cherry production also lends itself to wine grapes, and multiple vineyards dot the region. Tourism is the third principle industry, with visitors attracted to the town’s beaches and cultural events. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is a popular beach park that is home to massive sand dunes and a family friendly swimming beach. It is the areas most important attraction, bringing in over one million visitors a year. The annual National Cherry Festival, held in July, is another major draw and celebrates the region’s famous crop. Traverse City is widely considered one of the top small town destinations in America for its combination of attractions, commercial offerings, and natural beauty.

Just over an hour’s drive will find you in Traverse City. Traverse City, or “TC”, to those in the area, is on the shores of Lake Michigan and has much to offer in the way of recreating. http://www.traversecity.com/ Restaurants, beaches, and events abound. The National Cherry Festival is TC’s largest event, held in July. http://www.cherryfestival.org/ Traverse City is also near Sleeping Bear Dunes.

One of the prettiest areas in Michigan grows lots of cherries, has small wine producers, and sits on a gorgeous bay. There's also farm-to-table restaurants and a cute downtown. A good place to spend a long weekend.

Traverse City is a major city on the western end of Michigan and direct access to National Park unit Sleeping Bear Dunes National Shore. It also is great cherry and wine region. Disability access and disability parking vary due to activities you choose. You could spend 3 days and still have things to do.

This town on the northeastern side of Lake Michigan may be sweet, but not cloyingly so: after all, it boasts of being the tart cherry capital of the world. Readers found the most romance in outdoorsy endeavors, such as hiking at the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore or embarking on a fall color drive. For an extra shot of romance, stay at Chateau Chantal. This small, European-style inn offers its own wines, big breakfasts, and water views and was founded by a former priest and nun who later fell in love.
