Excellent collection of indigenous plants and animals in a humane and natural environment set on a ridge of the Tucson Mountain Range, looking west. Resting areas are plentiful and peaceful so you can take it all in at your own pace.

Everyone who visits southern Arizona needs to visit this fantastic place! It is not a museum in the traditional sense of a building housing interior exhibits. Rather it is a cross between that and a zoo, and its mission is to introduce visitors and residents alike to the wonders (animal, vegetable and mineral) of the Sonoran Desert. There are outdoor areas housing live coyotes, bighorn sheep, hummingbirds, plants and many, many cacti. Then there are indoor areas housing fish, reptiles, and even art exhibits pertaining to our desert. You shouldn't miss it!

This is the #1 rated Tucson attraction and for good reason. Featuring over 300 animals in their natural habitats and 1200+ plants in the botanical garden. This museum is ranked in the top 10 in the U.S.. Don't miss the hummingbird enclosure for an up close experience.

There are also art galleries, aquariums and a natural history museum to lose yourself in. Add this destination to your must see list.

The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is one of my top picks! Be sure to wear sunscreen, bring a hat, and allow at least 3-4 hours to meander and enjoy all the beauty this outdoor museum offers!

My personal favorite is the hummingbird sanctuary!

This is called a "zoo", but it is unlike any zoo you have ever visited. Go in the early morning or evening when the animals are most active. Plan to spend most of the day in the area and take a picnic lunch with you.

This is not your typical museum. Wear your most comfortable shoes for an outdoor adventure highlighting the natural beauty of the Southwest. Old and young will enjoy a view of desert inhabitants, cacti of amazing varieties, birds and plants. March and April in particular provide a spectacular display of blooming cactus and native flowers.
