My favorite place to hike for many reasons. It isn’t as crowded as Sabino Canyon, it is close to our property, you hike on dirt trails in the middle of the desert, the pools are usually filled with water and it is very close to the mountains. I have been coming here for 40 years and I never tire of it.

Our property is just minutes away from this gem on the north side of the Catalina Mountains. Again, there are hiking trails for all levels of hikers. You will find running water during early spring months and the most incredible wild flower displays after wet winters.

This beautiful park nestled at the foot of the Catalina Mountain Range is perfect for a day of picnicing, biking and hiking. This park is located next to Ram's Canyon and this home.

Check out Romero Pools, especially during the spring. There are remnants of pre-Coumbian settlement with petroglyphs and a ball field.

Hiking, birdwatching, wildlife viewing, checkout their website; there is a fee per car, but well worth it, or get an annual pass if you're here long enough. Activiities are offered year around.

In this beautiful desert park, located within the Coronado National Forest less than 20 miles north of Tucson, is a self-guided, signed trail leading through Romero Ruin that includes a prehistoric Hohokam village with a ballcourt as well as the historic Romero Ranch.

With over 5,500 acres, Catalina State Park is home to over 150 bird species, more than 5,000 saguaro cacti and countless trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding.

This park is a ten minute drive from the house. It is a great place to hike, ride horses, and enjoy the natural beauty of the desert. The washes flow during certain times of the year which changes the deserts appearance. Trails for all of levels of hikers are available.

We camped here for 2 weeks and had a beautiful time. The campsites are huge and spread out and road runners entertain you all day while you work or relax. There are several hikes and a beautiful mountain backdrop to the south. My favorite park in Tuscon.

Excellent hiking and excellent views. From the trailhead in Oro Valley, you can hike as far up as you want -- up through gorgeous desert scenery, past scrubland and into the pine forests of the higher elevations. Beautiful, beautiful trails.
