The food is great and the staff very friendly. Best part is you can walk there and walk home, only 2 blocks away.

James Beach: This local hangout has a fun vibe and is a great place to convene with friends or grab a cold drink. Their famous fish tacos will amaze you, and you’ll want to hang at the bar long into the night. 15 min walk away at the end of Venice Blvd. www.jamesbeach.com

The only true brunch spot we could find in the Venice boardwalk area. Cool spot with good music and solid food. Service is a bit slow, but decent spot for your typical brunch options.

I'm just a slapping da base.

Where did I hear that from? Oh yeah the movie I love you, Man. Why does the front of James Beach look so familiar?... Oh right! That's where one of the dinner scenes was filmed. Coolz.

Brittney thank you so much for letting me join the West LA special party celebration! I was a little bummed thinking about not getting in to the event. It was almost time to get off work, but I didn't have anything planned. Right as I was day dreaming about the private event then BAM. Email from Brittney "you're in!". Nice! I've never gotten in from a waitlist but I was still excited either way. The only bummer is I didn't have time to pick up a toy to donate.

The James Beach wasn't as jumping at Canal Club, but it did have a photo booth with a short line and plenty of un touched party swag. Canal club was so fun!!! I spent most of the night on this side of the event. Good thing I got food early and also noticed another food area away from the line SCORE!!! This joint was packed. No pun intended.

It was great to meet a lot of fun peeps. And also lost a group I was chilling with. Please add me if you are reading this. LA West knows how to party. This is my favorite LA event so far. I had to party harder after not making any OC events in October and November. Oh wells there are always North sd next week. That is another fun area. I ran in to some OC peeps!! Coolz and REPRESENT!!

The live drummer playing what sounded like Christmas calypso music was awesome! It set the perfect atmosphere and party vibe. The food at this event was hit or miss depending on the item. I spent most of the time meeting new people and getting a little drink on before the end of the night.

Restaurant/Bar, great food, drink, lively atmosphere. And if you're a movie buff this is one of the locations they shot "I Love You Man" with Jason Segel and Paul Rudd.

We came here based in a Gogobot rating hoping for something light and healthy that was close to where we were. Although service was great and staff were friendly and welcoming (our dog was treated so well!!), the food was very disappointing. The fish tacos were not fresh or flavorful and the chirashi bowl lacked effort. I'd probably go back but only for drinks.

Very slow service but food is good. Try the tacos and the wine! Famous for being in several tv shows and movies!

A friend and I came here for Taco Tuesday. He had heard about the fish taco special, and since we have a tradition of Taco Tuesday to catch up, he suggested something different. Street parking was easy to find.

There are 2 dining rooms (indoor/outdoor), with an open, airy feel, and a bar serving each side. Very nice lighting and ambiance, and they manage to pull off the cool-beach-restaurant-but-fancy vibe. We sat in the covered outdoor patio, which still felt like a nice restaurant. I could see it being a cool first date spot.

On Tuesdays, you can get their "famous" fish tacos, or brisket tacos, for $15. You get a place of warm tortillas, salsa, black beans, guacamole, limes, and a slab of grilled mahi mahi. Different food specials for every day of the week. Unfortunately, no happy hour or drink specials.

For $15, I was expecting more. It was good, but nothing really special about it, or nothing to make me want to come back and get them. Sure, the fish was good, but I felt like I was paying more for the atmosphere and beach location than for anything spectacular.

Our waitress was awesome, came by often, and made good margarita recommendations. Two thumbs up for the service.

I'd probably only come back if someone else suggested it, or if they got a happy hour.

Vibey spot right on the water in Venice. They've somehow managed to do beachy-chic. Warm and inviting for surfers and socialites alike. Three separate dining areas, each with their own bar.

Good food, on the higher priced side, great beach location, outdoor and indoor seating available.

I recommend:
The Yellow and Red Beet Salad (with Laura Chenel Goat Cheese, Arugula, Pickled Shallot Vinaigrette)

The Sand Dabs- served with Garlic Spinach, Smashed Yukon Potatoes, Lemon Caper Brown Butter

and be sure to check out the dessert tray!

Great bar and restaurant in Venice. Lots of different areas for seating, indoor and a psuedo outdoor patio as well. Parking can be a pain here - opt for the valet!

Best mid-to-upper scale beach bar in Venice. A really cool hangout with great food and especially fun during evening hours.

Go in the early evening and grab a place at the bar. Drinks are strong, the food is amazing and the bartenders are great people. You'll sometimes catch a celebrity or two in here, but they'll be hanging with the locals and trying to escape the "Hollywood" scene for a night out. Treat them like a person and they'll do the same back.

If you've ever seen the movie "I Love You Man", this is where the guys went on their first "man date". It was characterized pretty well. Nice, but in no way pretentious (which frankly, is not always easy to find in L.A.!)
