A very cool spot in Venice for dinner with great atmosphere. Most of the dishes are served family style. The gnocchi was amazing.

The food here is delicious, though pricey. And there was plenty of room, both inside and outside. But the staff displayed the stereotypical LA trendy/hipster "too cool for the customer" attitude, which took away from the food experience.

Rose Cafe is always packed, has two outdoor patios and some really yummy pastries. This place is great for groups too.

Lofty, boho-chic all-day eatery with two patios, a bar & a bakery, serving rustic Californian menus.

Super trendy bar in Venice. Vallet parking only with a fun beer garden patio. The decor was super cute with succulents hanging from the ceiling. The food was decent, but the matcha latte won me over

I love this place for its pastries and overall aesthetic of the building. During brunch you can enjoy in a number of patio spots or study at the bar. At night there is an amazing wine list and not a far walk from Abbot Kinney

Awesome restaurant! Great spot for brunch. Came here on a Sunday around noon, didn't have to wait long. Nice decor & ambiance. Divided into 2 sections, cafe takeout & the actual sit down area. Ordered the Fried Chicken & Biscuits, it was the best thing ever! The chicken was perfectly golden & crispy and the biscuits smothered with the tasty gravy. Everything felt good in the world after that meal.

Rated on of the top brunch spots in la for good reason. Rose cafe is a cute little oasis in the heart of Venice with excellent brunch options ranging from chorizo eggs to paninis and breakfast sandwiches. I tried the seasonal pumpkin hummus appetizer per my waitresses recommendation and was extremely satisfied. There is also a great patio space that's pup friendly and great for people watching.

Local from Marina del Rey, California, USA

I had always been a fan of Rose Cafe and had to give it a try after Jason Neroni took it over. Overall, I was very pleasantly surprised... Especially after the disappointment I had over another of his restaurants (Catch & Release in Marina Del Rey). The new Rose Cafe fixes much of what wrong at Catch & Release.

Guests are encouraged to order several dishes, and share them family style. I was a little nervous that Jason was going to repeat the tapas-sized portions of C&R. But WOW, the portions here at Rose Cafe are substantial! I was dining as a party of 2, but some of the dishes are big enough to be shared by 3 or 4 people. In contrast to a lot of high-end Venice restaurants, you actually feel like you are getting your money's worth here.

We started with the Yellow Tail Crudo, which was fantastic. The portions of fish are quite generous, and the addition of grapefruit is a perfect complement to the taste of the fish and the sauce.

Next was the Ceviche. Again, I was surprised to see how large the portion was. However, for Ceviche, the chunks of fish were too large for my taste, and they were actually a little chewy. The sauce was pretty amazing though.

Next was the Beet Salad, which was delicious! Plenty of greens along with a tasty white sauce. This dish was one of my favorites of the night.

After that we had the Grilled Octopus, which is served with an amazing red sauce and pinto or Fava beans -- I wasn't sure which -- but everything worked perfectly together. Again, the size of the portion was very generous. The octopus was meaty, and cooked perfectly.

For our main entrees, we decided to try the duck. The presentation was outstanding, with two very large duck "steaks". However, the duck was a bit too much like red meat (in terms of texture) for me. And the cut of the duck was so thick, it was quite chewy. One of the pieces was cooked medium, the other more well-done. I would be curious to see how this dish tasted if the duck was cut into thin strips instead. But next time I'll try the chicken.

Our other main was the halibut, which was recommended by our waitress. Again, huge portion (no complaints about that!). The fish was cooked very well, but by the time the server brought it out to us, it was already a bit cold. On one hand, I love that the portion was large, on the other hand, it was almost too much of a good thing. By the time we finished this dish, the sauce (which initially tasted delicious to us) started to taste salty.

After finishing our meal, there was no room for dessert. So one word of warning if you dine here -- try not to order too much food. That might be difficult, because the waitress refused to take our order until we were ready to order the entire meal. She said that the chef prefers it that way, so he can time the courses correctly. However, I would have preferred to order some appetizers first, then order the main courses and sides after. For a party of 2, I'd recommend ordering two main entrees, plus one appetizer and one side to share. That would be plenty, and you'll have room for dessert.

I really like what they did with the interior of the Cafe. The kitchen is totally open now, and the bar area looks fantastic, with plenty of communal tables.

I'm looking forward to coming back to try their brunch on a weekend. Great job on this restaurant Jason!

The Rose Cafe, opened by chef Jason Neroni and restaurateur Bill Chait, is a sight to behold. After 9 months of renovation, they transformed a run down neighborhood eatery into a masterpiece. It's a huge space - bright, airy and modern, with high ceilings and an expansive patio, serving fresh market based foods. This place is very popular for brunch, with great egg dishes and fresh house made pastries. But the crowds stay for lunch as well. You need to book ahead or you may not get a table.

A place to eat that has eye appeal that includes protected outside space. The food is not memorable but combined with the atmosphere and service the restaurant entices return visits.

Absolutely fabulous food. Sit in back patio and get wait service, or order from the deli counter. All fresh and fascinating. Great selection of salads. Changing art display.

**SOLID WEEKEND BRUNCH IN VENICE**

Gorgeous weather permitted us to eat outside in the back patio.

ORDERED:

*MIMOSA ($7) - Cheap bubbly. Didn't taste fresh. Didn't care for the OJ either.

*SPECIAL KITCHEN EGGS ($12) - WINNER. Poached eggs served on toast with smoked salmon and special fresh sauce. OMG, to die for.

*SIDE YOGURT ($2.50) - Add honey from the table and you're set.

Efficient staff.

Good price value.

Brunch was a good experience.

Oh Rose Cafe, how I yearn for thee. Divine desserts are my go to...dark chocolate raspberry cake is what you should get.
