This spot has a good amount of history and is a well known location in SoCal. There’s some decent food here, some interesting street art, a lot of small shops with decently priced merchandise, and quite a few things to do. Swimming at the beach, visiting the shops, getting a tattoo, and meeting some of the interesting locals, there is always something going on here. Within a short distance from other prime locations such as the Santa Monica Pier, this spot won’t disappoint. Rating 4 stars due to being a bit dirty at times.

Pretty green, if you know what I mean. Not really a place to go with families although you’ll see plenty. A very historical and fun place with cheap shops but it’s a pretty short-lived experience in my opinion.

Bit of a toilet to be honest. Colourful characters but junky shops. LA needs to do something about homelessness.

I love to take my foreign visitors here because this is what they think all of California looks like (from the movies). But you have to admit, this is one of the most spectacular beaches in Cali, plus there are so many interesting people to watch!

LA’s most famous beach. What can I say? In my head I remembered the scene from The Doors when Ray and Jim decide to form a rock band.

Venice beach is probably the most interesting place you will find in LA... There is a wide variety of people from all walks of life. There is a ton of charm in the city itself, with plenty of coffee shops and restaurants. Some amazing shopping destinations can be found, just try to avoid the boardwalk stores. I wouldn’t say that Venice beach (actual beach) is a family friendly area since it’s a little sketchy and a little dirty. But if you stay inland just a little, the surrounding area is really beautiful!

Very touristy but a definite must to check out with all the venice crazies roaming around. This part of the beach is more for walking and hanging around and NOT going into the water (dirty).

The Venice Boardwalk is filled with a conglomeration of people engaged in a hodgepodge of activity having minimal redeeming qualities - rather like New Orleans' Bourbon Street but lacking Bourbon Street's fine restaurants, jazz or Mardis Gras celebration. But, the sunsets can be gorgeous.

A walk along the Promenade at Venice Beach has been a must-do for visitors to LA for many decades. Be sure to take your camera, because you'll see amazing costumes, people from all over the world, entertaining activities, lots of art, all kinds of international foods and fun bars and eateries. Be sure to bring sunblock or a cool hat, so you can relax on the beach or under the palm trees. It will be a truly unforgettable experience.

A must go location if you are around LA with a lot of outdoor performers and interesting characters. Lot of shops that are more for tourists.

I go here once a week. It's a place for all ages. 420 friendly. Lots of art work. Nice walk along the board walk. We grab a bite to eat. I don't go in the water though. On My my feet. The water is filthy

Love this place! You can never get tired of seeing strange and unique walks of life here! I enjoy taking my kids who are 11 and 15, we always come home with something new and it really opens their eyes to art with all the vendors trying to make a buck. The parking sucks ass but it sort of gives you peace of mind knowing that it's in decent hands when you pay a pretty penny to park in the car lots. I usually pay 30-40 bucks.

Very interesting place to check out. Good low key food options, a skate bowl to watch adults and kids bike, blade and skate and inevitably a few wipeouts. Street vendors will totally try to suck you in with sketchy deals to make some money but you can find some cool stuff, very cute clothes especially. I love renting a bike in Santa Monica and biking all the way through Venice and back. You're pretty close to the beach the whole time just watch out for inconsiderate fellow bikers and even some pedestrians that like to walk in the middle of the biking lanes
