There IS decent food to be had in Venice! After throwing money away time and time again on mediocre meals during my many trips to Venice, Rossopomodoro caught my eye. The restaurant was jam packed and crowded but I didn't mind waiting because the food smelled and looked so good through the windows.

After a 45 minute wait (no biggie, we just walked around town until it was time to head back for a table), we were finally seated. This isn't a quiet or romantic place to eat, it's very loud and noisy and boisterous, so don't plan on coming to have a hushed whisper type of evening. Since the restaurant was still bustling, service was even slower than usual (yes, I realize fast service in Italy is considered rude, but this was even slower due to the crowds). Once we finally were able to order, it took another 45 minutes for our food to arrive (again, I think this was a result of the overwhelming crowd in the dining room).

Our first course finally came and it was a limp, sad looking plate of bruschetta. As soon as it was set down in front of us, I thought "uh oh, here comes another terrible Venetian meal." The plate consisted of two little pieces of bruschetta and a messy looking pile of lettuce in the middle. The tomatoes were just okay. Don't order this, it's a waste. Thankfully things picked up when we got our caesar salad (second course). The salad arrived with toppings and you had to toss it yourself. I loved the fun ingredients and the salad was tasty, which gave me hope for the main courses. The caesar salad was huge, delicious and perfect for two people to share. It was topped with crispy bread chips as croutons, large shavings of fresh cheese and crispy (yes, crispy!) bacon!

We ordered a pizza and steak as our main courses. The four tomato sampler pizza caught my eye and I absolutely LOVED this pizza. It was like 4 different pizzas in one pie and the tomatoes were bursting with a sweet and satisfying flavor. While the pizza was INCREDIBLE, the steak was good -- if you like your meat cooked well done. That was the only temperature offered; brown all the way through or no steak for you.

Despite the hiccups, this was by far the best meal I've ever had in Venice, and I've had the pleasure of visiting the city three times so far in my life. Eat here if you are in town and get pizza, it's really good!

Very cute pizza spot and delicious pizzas - definitely something for everyone. The service was a bit snooty, but otherwise, all was great.

It's quick and simple food but it's done extremely well. I came back several times while in Venice, I couldn't get enough of the tender homemade pasta. Though it almost feels kind of like fast-food pasta, it's extremely good.

The location was also central to the Hotel Londra Palace where I was staying, which was nice.
