it connects the sestiere of San Marco and Dorsoduro. Its name comes from the Accademia galleries. You are certain to love the incredible view of the Grand Canal that this bridge provides you. Although the Ponte dell'Accademia does not have as many tourists as the Rialto, its view of the canal is actually much better. You can take some incredible shots at the Ponte dell'Accademia.

Just go there at night ( the later the better) and look up and down the canal. what palazxi, what beautiful architecture, what history in stone. And then go to Rialto bridge and repeat. Feeling Venetian yet?

Ponte dell'Accademia is one of only four bridges in Venice to span the width of the Grand Canal. It crosses the southern end of the canal and connects San Marco to Dorsoduro. Though architecturally it's not as intriguing as some of the other bridges in the city (ie: Rialto), Accademia offers one of the city's most stunning and picturesque views onto the canal, with the glorious Santa Maria della Salute as its backdrop.

Nice view of Grand Canal from this bridge. It's special because it's made out of wood.

The Accademia Bridge connects San Marco with Dursoduro near the Accademia Museum. It's not as popular or crowded as the Rialto but the view of the Grand Canal is actually better.

This is a giant wooden bridge in Venice (notable because of the great views on top of the tall bridge and the many padlocks attached to it). Really beautiful.

This beautiful old bridge is one of the few in the area that crosses the Grand Canal. There are great views from the bridge. It also seems to have become a victim of locks.

One of the many bridges over the canals. This one is much larger as it crosses one of the more main canals.

The Ponte dell'Accademia is one of only four bridges in Venice to span the Grand Canal. It crosses near the southern end of the canal, and is named for the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia. The bridge links the Sestieres of Dorsoduro and San Marco.

Gayle and I walked over this Bridge twice, both times starting at San Marco's square and eventually finding our way here through various Venice twists and turns. This is the Bridge you need to cross to get to the Peggy Guggenheim museum or catch a boat at Zattere. The Bridge itself isn't as impressive as a signature span like Rialto, but remains an interesting part of Venice touring.

Although all the bridges in Venice were unique and charming in their own way, the three bridges crossing the Grand Canal were the most impressive. This bridge is somewhat less crowded, and offers great souvenir shopping nearby.

I'm surprised this bridge is not as crowded as Ponte Rialto. It's quiet and offers a stunning view of the canal. You can easily get a postcard shot here!

The Accademia Bridge is located in the final loop of the S-shaped Canale Grande, just before the canal feeds into St. Mark's Basin. It connects the sestiere of San Marco with Dorsoduro, and it's convenient if you're on your way from the Piazza San Marco to the Galleria dell'Accademia, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, or the Santa Maria della Salute Church.

Very charming and romantic bridge to cross, since it's in wood and adorned with locks with names on it. Go put a lock on it to make eternal a friendship or a lovely relationship then throw the key in the river.

One of the three bridges that spans the Grand Canal and the one nearest Piazza San Marco. Climb to the top and get some great photos looking down the canal.

One of the three bridges crossing the Grand Canal, this one isn't as famous as the Rialto, but is still pretty in its own right (wood-based) and is the easiest way to get to the Accademia Gallery.
