Just a few blocks away from the bustle of Victoria's city centre, this charming little hotel seems like it could be a world away. Classic Tudor-style wood panelled exterior and an immaculately maintained rich mahogany interior are the first things I noticed. The small courtyard adds a nice touch as well.

Well kept and surprisingly personable, I would classify this more as a bed & breakfast than a hotel, since a daily breakfast and nightly appetizers are included in your booking. Although there is no restaurant, just a dining room on site, there is a library and gift shop, making this an ideal getaway spot for those focusing on sightseeing rather than living it up in the city centre.

Although the 'must-see' sights of downtown Victoria are within walking distance, so are the lush and expansive Beacon Hill Park to the south and the oft-overlooked Craigdarroch Castle to the east. Don't miss them!

I had a little trouble finding Abigail's Hotel because it is in a residential area away from the hustle and bustle of the Legislature and the Harbour. However, walking up to the building and even walking into the lobby feels like you’re stepping back into time. The hotel was quiet as it is more for the “romantic getaway” crowd. The lobby is warm and welcoming and the staff are great at making you feel at home.
Walking into the room I was greeted by the romantic decor. The room itself was small, but had a big beautiful vintage looking and comfy 4 post bed, vintage fireplace and a beautiful big soaker tub set in marble. It really made me feel like I had stepped back in time. Also, there was a surprise waiting on the bed when I walked into the room: fresh baked cookies - also complimentary!
Though there is no official restaurant, included in the room bookings were 3 course breakfast and appies every night. There was also free parking, wifi and computers. Abigail’s has a small gift shop as well, where you can get little trinkets, shirts or sweaters with the Hotel’s name on it.
My only other advice is that this hotel only has one room with two queens. All the other rooms only have either a single queen or a single king with no option of adding in another bed. If you need two beds, make sure you book early!

This hotel is beautiful! The Tudor-style exterior surrounded by the colourful autumn trees is gorgeous. The rooms are cozy, elegant, and have antique-style furnishings. The only important thing to note is that the hotel does not have an elevator, so if climbing two to three flights of stairs if difficult for you I'd recommend asking for a ground floor room. On the ground floor, there is a lovely library with both books and DVDs. The room also has a flat screen TV and big leather chairs. It was nice to have easy access to tea, coffee, and apple cider as well. There is a spa on site, too, but I was told estheticians are on call and it isn't open all the time, so it's necessary to make reservations in advance.

the three course breakfasts are awesome with freshly squeezed orange juice, hot chocolate, fruit, fresh pastries and a light, sweet and savory selection. they even have light appetizers from 5 to 7 everyday. the staff is very attentive. they also let me get as many pillows as I want for various pillow formations such as building and fort and an igloo. staff is very friendly and even showed my friends and me around the various types of rooms we could be staying in. robes are plush. only downside was that I could hear the noise from the street such as a drunk guy and a crying kid.

get the eggs Benedict. chef Matt executes it very well with a perfectly toasted English muffin, moist and crispy bacon and beautifully poached egg covered in hollandaise sauce. pancakes have also ranged from banana chocolate chip to Chai flavored.

Victoria is a lovely little city that gets neglected due the fame of the far more famous Vancouver. But give me Victoria anytime! Stayed at Abigail's on a road trip through BC and ended up staying an extra day because it was just so damn pleasant there. Abigail's is a beautiful old english style house that's in tip-top shape, with big rooms and huge springy beds. The breakfast is really one of the best I've had at a B&B with fresh scones, and juice and fresh baked breads and fresh cheeses and pancakes and ....and.... Abigail's (we called it Abby's) is quite centrally located, and from there you can explore Victoria at your heart's content. Close to an old cathedral and a short walk to the harbor and the ferry to Seattle if you need to go south. Just a lovely, relaxing, well-cared for spot.
