Visiting Hanauma Bay was probably one of the highlights of my Hawaii trip back in August. You pay a small entrance fee of $5 and parking is only $1 to have access to this gorgeous beach bay. Everything is super organized too where they have groups first watch a short video about the Bay and the proper etiquette of taking care of the beach. After this, you do a short walk down to the beach that is just absolutely scenic. It really feels like you have your own private beach! Down here you can rent your snorkel gear which you should absolutely do so you can explore all the green turtles and marine life that the coral reef has to offer.

Pro Tip: It took me awhile to get comfortable using the snorkel gear and practicing how I breathe. If you think you will have major issues with this I suggest bringing some kind of floatie or life vest so that you can swim further out into the ocean and really see the beauty that lies below you.

Apparently I was swimming right next to a seal lion and had no clue! My friends told me after the fact and I never noticed because I was so focused following a school of fish.

Hanauma Bay is one of the best places I’ve ever snorkeled. As a result it attracts tons of tourists, but if you’re willing to overlook that, you won’t be disappointed with the marine life. You can rent snorkel gear on the beach if you don’t have your own which makes it an easy trip.

I remember back in 2005 it was free, but now it costs $7.50 per person to enter the Hanauma Bay, where you can snorkel. The equipment is available there for rent.

Great place with a really annoying entrance thing where they talk about not stepping on the reef, but some people still do it. Probably cause they don't speak English and have no idea what their saying. Plus it's really crowded and there's lots of annoying kids. Over all, if you have a nice spot it's ok.

Beautiful views, beautiful beach. You have to watch a video before you go down to the beach. The beach itself is about a 10 minute hike down/up which is free. If you don't want to hike up or down, you get to take the tram for a dollar.

Hanauma bay is great for beginner snorkeling, as the time passed, more people began to arrive, and although it could be considered as "crowded," it wasn't crowded enough where you ran into people left and right.

While snorkeling, we saw a variety of fish and a sea turtle :-) The water wasn't as clear as I would have liked and I got a bit sea sick from the waves (my first time snorkeling) so I stayed out on the beach alot, but my bf spend a good amount of time out in the water.

Overall- good place to snorkel and you will see fish, however I docked off 1 star because it is a very touristy place and I didn't see as much variety of fish as I would have liked.

There's a tram that will take you up and down the hill to the beach, we didn't take it, but I wouldn't recommend it either. The walk up really isn't very long or hard and you get a great view of the bay where you can see the coral formations under the blue water.
