So much to see here! I love that many exhibits relate American history to current everyday life. The kids enjoyed the hands-on Sparklab and Wonderland exhibits. I especially enjoyed the History of Food exhibit!

Amazing place with lots of history and lots to see, I stayed 2 days in the city and it is not enough to see everything it offers. I recommend this place for family or even for walking alone.

I was not impressed by this museum. I was overwhelmed by all of things. Too large.

By far the greatest Smithsonian museum. Exhibits and collections cover an immensely broad range of topics, from popular culture, the history of transportation, several US wars, US presidencies, cooking and food, and much more. Some of my favorite items include the top hat Lincoln wore at the time of his assassination at Ford's Theater, Julia Child's kitchen, the collection of First Lady's dresses, Indiana Jones's hat and whip, and a piece of the Berlin Wall.

There are several new exhibits coming and one under repair but still alot to see. The layout doesn't flow well in some exhibits and sections can be missed. The display of the flag was amazing.

This was one of the places my either really wanted to see. Unfortunately two of the floors were not open yet. One opens in 2017 and the other in 2018. What thy did have though was very interesting and fun to look at and read about.

Contains a lot of artifacts from the history of America. The movie props exhibit is with the trip alone. Ruby red slippers from Wizard of Oz, also R2D2 and C3PO from Star Wars were a hit.

Really an incredible experience for adults with so much to see and read. The restaurant on the basement level is really very good too. Highly suggest a visit.

Excellent museum to learn about the history of the US. The exhibits on US ward is interesting. You can also check out the flag that inspired the star spangled banner.

Building is too big for the current exhibits, although more collections are planned. Open til 7:30 pm during the summer. Great gift shop.

About once a month, the Museum of American History sponsors an after hours event that focuses on food's role in American history. The evening includes a lecture (past events include the history of brewing in the US, Julia Child's impact on cooking, and victory gardens) and themed food and drink samples. You can buy tickets on the museum's website.

The Museum of American history is probably not the first place foodies think of visiting in DC – but food lovers will appreciate the slightly nostalgic [and permanent] exhibit ‘FOOD: Transforming the American Table 1950-2000’ which features, among other things, Julia Child’s kitchen. The exhibit is an interesting look at America’s changing relationship with –and opinion of – food, including everything from the emergence of the country’s fast food culture to the burgeoning interest in global cuisine.

The museum is well suited for families. The exhibits do a good job of exciting people about American history but they don't go into much depth

This is my favorite Smithsonian museum since there is something for everyone. Whether it's for Abraham Lincoln's top hat or Miss Piggy, your family will remember this place. The museum shops are fun, too. I like the personalized dog tags that are made while you wait at their military-themed store.

The Julia Child's kitchen is wonderful, as is the computer section. It contains a very visual depiction of the miniaturization of our electronics over the last few decades. Like walking through a very clean and organized antique store.

I like revisiting this museum a lot because it has a lot of pop culture and is never dull, even for the friends I have that are reluctant to find anything interesting in any museum. They are bound to find something they like, from Dorothy's red slippers and Michael Jackson's glove and fedora to the actual Star Spangled Banner that Betsy Ross sewed.
