If you enjoy architecture, the new parliament building is definitely one of the top ten ugliest buildings I have ever seen. The old one next to it is a bit better, and the library next to it is pretty nice.

Note: you'll need to put your phones and cameras in storage before the tour starts.

It's best to book a tour, though you can do that on the day via the website. There are a few different tour types, all free. You get to see different parts of the buildings and learn about NZ politics.

Wellington is so hip and laid back it's easy to forget that it is also the capital city! Even the houses of parliament are not your average looking government building.

If you have an interest in politics or 1970's architecture you'll like this. No extra points for guessing why they call it The Beehive.

Ugly on the outside but very decieving. Inside the building is very spacious and surprising welcoming. Mind you, I was in the building when the Labour party was in power and Helen Clarke was still Prime Minister lols
