Xi'an Vacations

Known affectionately by locals as one of the four furnaces of China, Xi’an offers visitors not only some of the hottest weather in the country but also sizzling attractions. As the eastern end of the ancient Silk Road, Xi'an was not only one of the most populous cities in the world 2200 years ago, but one of the most important in China's history. ... Read more
If you're coming here, it's most likely to see the Terracotta Warriors. The underground army of 8,000 life-size clay soldiers built in 210 BC was built to protect the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. Other attractions in Xi’an include the City Wall, which is the longest complete city wall in the world, and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a Tang dynasty construction from 652 AD, built to hold Buddhist artifacts. Hotels in Xi’an center near the City Wall and offer reasonable prices compared to other cities in China. Many visitors enjoy indulging in a hallmark 18-dumpling banquet, a meal that has become synonymous with Xi’an cuisine.

One of the highlights of our trip to China was Xi'an, where we saw the Terra Cotta Warriors. They were so impressive, but there is also a lot of other things to see here. The city wall is impressive and there is a great Tang Dynasty dinner show that was very entertaining.

I enjoyed visiting Xi'an-- it's a very walkable city with a lot of history and great food. We may have come on a good weekend, but the air quality wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I recommend it if you're in Beijing or Shanghai for at least 7 days and want to take a couple of days to go elsewhere.

Incredibly cheap, if you are willing to haggle for prices. Renting can be a bit pricey, considering that expats do not wish to purchase furniture as well relocate from one city to the next very often. As with the rest of China, you can not drink the water, but the air is only bad in winter, mostly---plenty of medical grade masks available at the local pharmacies

The Muslim District is where it's at. The Terra Cotta warriors, while obviously very touristy, are a site to behold. Go in backwards order (chamber 3, 2, then 1) for the biggest impact!

Xi'an is the travel destination in China. Sure, Beijing has the Great Wall and the Forbidden City (which are also great sights), but nowhere in China will you find such a vast collection of historical sites and experiences. Any trip to China should include this fantastic place.
The city is easy to find your way around in. Choose a hotel at or near the city square and you'll find many of the must-sees just outside your hotel door. When you're done with all the sights in the books you can continue to explore the hidden gems deep inside the old streets of this historic city.

A premier tourist destination where you begin to see the various Asian influences. If New York is America's melting pot, you can call Xi'an the same. The must do here is to eat the food and see the Terra Cotta Warrior Army

Xi'an, translated as Western Peace in Chinese was one of China's early capitals. This city is known for the terra cotta warriors, otherwise known as the burial site of Qin Shihuangdi.

Xi'An is China's first historic capital, made primary city by the first emperor, Qin Shi Huang.

The Qin Shi Huang Terracotta Wariors and Horses Museum is located about thirty minutes outside Xi'An.
