Zanzibar Vacations

Zanzibar, off the coast of Tanzania, is an exotic destination that is distinguished by having fought the world’s quickest war, clocking in at 38 minutes. Peace becomes Zanzibar. It’s almost impossible to imagine war destroying Stone Town’s still waters, the street food stalls of Forodhani Gardens, and the white beaches lined with coconut palms. ... Read more
Zanzibar feels like another world, one scented with cinnamon, drenched in sugar cane juice, populated with dhow (carved wooden boats) and women dressed in the traditional bui-bui. A trip to Zanzibar is well worth the two-hour ferry ride or puddle-jump in a plane to savour its spicy delights.

Zanzibar is a walkable little vacation destination town with a mesh of middle eastern influence from Oman’s rule. It’s known for its beaches, sunsets and history.

Zanzibar lives up to its exotic image and, despite the upscale hotels that are moving in, it still has a charming backpacker feel to it. Explore the island's history in Stone Town but you'll likely want to spend most of your time at one of the island's gorgeous beaches. Excellent food, friendly people, a nice mix of both cultures and diversions.

Zanzibar is a beautiful island located off the coast of Tanzania. It has a wide mix of cultures blending African, Arab and Indian traditions with a wide Muslim population. It is about a 20 minute flight or a 1.5 hour ferry ride from Dar Es Salaam. The main town called Stonetown is a UNESCO world heritage site, with many old buildings, and streets to explore. It is also know for the intricate carved doors through out the city. It also has some amazing beaches, all over the island with hotels ranging from ultimate luxury to basic back packer bungalows.

For perfect stargazing nights and hot sunny days, The Residence embodies the exoticism and mystique of the castaway African Spice Island, Zanzibar. Secluded beachfront pool villas are set along vast white-sands and coconut palms. Villa bicycles encourage exploration of 80-acre grounds.

The glass-walled infinity pool radiates sophistication whilst a full-service spa enhances total relaxation. My highlight is champagne picnic on the private pier, watching local women wade through shallows of the sea at low tide, picking seaweed.

Zanzibar is one of those rare places that is actually as exotic on the tongue as it is in real life. Spicy, sultry, tropical and seething of a bygone era of sultans and slaves, of missionaries and Allah under steamy African skies. Zanzibar's Stone Town, the jungles of the interior and sweeping sugary beaches all around are all begging for a Tin Tin style adventure.
