The capital of the Northern Territory, Darwin is a world away from Australia's other big cities. With a laid-back tropical feel, some gorgeous coastline, good food and decent attractions like the Botanic Gardens and MAGNT, it's a fun spot in its own right for a couple of days before you head off deeper into the Territory.

Hot, humid, damn hot. Very casual town, with a very young transient population.
