If you are travelling to India, then Amritsar is one of the most recommended cities to visit. It has a rich cultural and historic significance. It is most famous for the Golden Temple which is the most important pilgrimage site of Sikhism. But people from all religions and castes are welcome to this peaceful and serene heaven on Earth. Wagha Border and Jallianwala Bagh are the other 2 famous places to visit in Amritsar. Amritsar is best known for its rich Punjabi Dhabha and street food. Some of the famous dishes which are a must try: Amritsari Kulcha, Fish, Brain Curry, Mutton Tikka, Vegetarian Thaali at Kesar or Bharawan da Dhabha, Lassi, etc. Avoid travelling in summers as the temperature can go as high as 48C. The best recommended months to travel would be Nov and Dec.

It takes its name from the tank that surrounds the famed Golden Temple, which translates to the ‘pool of nectar of immortality’. The city holds the distinction of being the spiritual throne of the Sikh faith and millions of faithful throng the city each day to get a glimpse of the sanctum of the Golden Temple. The allure of spirituality and undoubtedly, its history makes Amritsar a favoured destination.
