A largely undeveloped island off the east coast of Puerto Rico, Vieques is mostly controlled by the U.S. Navy although it also features hiking trails, beaches, and one of Puerto Rico's phosphorescent bays.
It is a great place. Better if you stay here for a few days and rent a car to actually get to know the island, its wild horses, its awesome huge Ceiba tree and many of its beaches.

Vieques island is a little slice of paradise that has yet to be completely overrun by tourists. I enjoyed the beautiful beaches and impressive restaurants. The bioluminescent bay here is quite an impressive feature. The island boasts a laid back attitude, and is best for a truly adventurous spirit. However luxury food and accommodation can be found, eg. The W.
