Quaint little town. It's much cooler here than elsewhere around the island (bring a sweatshirt) but has beautiful green rolling hills. Good restaurants and fairly close to the big resorts of the Kohala coast.

Attractive little ranch town sandwiched betweend desolate lava flows and a gorgeous coast. 40 min from Kona airport. Has a number of mom and pop businesses many selling tourist items.

The heart of paniolo (cowboy) country on the Big Island, Waimea (Kamuela) is really just a one-horse town with touristy shops, some outstanding local and Hawaii Regional Cuisine restaurants, and the historical sites on the Parker Ranch. You'll probably only make a quick stop here en route between the Kona and Hilo sides of the island.
