Being vegan/vegetarian in the city was difficult but not impossible. Mellow Mushroom pizza, Another Broken Egg Quinoa bowls, and vegetable/bean sides from regular restaurants kept me going. I stayed at Downtown Nashville Hostel which was very clean and appeared new. It was only a social experience because we made it one. The hostel didn’t have events or anything like that. Nearly everyone was in town leading up to Bonnaroo which was the best conversation starter. One day we happened upon a Frida Kahlo exhibition at the Frisk Art Museum. This was a gem. Perfect break from the honky tonk and heat.

Nashville is the up-and-coming spot to travel in the South. Definitely would recommend to anyone wanting to eat authentic southern comfort food, without some of the depressing symptoms of the south.
