Just over an hour’s drive will find you in Traverse City. Traverse City, or “TC”, to those in the area, is on the shores of Lake Michigan and has much to offer in the way of recreating. http://www.traversecity.com/ Restaurants, beaches, and events abound. The National Cherry Festival is TC’s largest event, held in July. http://www.cherryfestival.org/ Traverse City is also near Sleeping Bear Dunes.

One of the prettiest areas in Michigan grows lots of cherries, has small wine producers, and sits on a gorgeous bay. There's also farm-to-table restaurants and a cute downtown. A good place to spend a long weekend.

Traverse City is a major city on the western end of Michigan and direct access to National Park unit Sleeping Bear Dunes National Shore. It also is great cherry and wine region. Disability access and disability parking vary due to activities you choose. You could spend 3 days and still have things to do.
