• Bring plenty of beach-ready clothes for a Cancun vacation.• Do not forget to pack clothes and accessories for special occasions or dining out.• Remember all your personal care items, especially if you are staying in a budget hotel that does not provide toiletries.• Be sure to bring sunscreen and hats to reduce the chance of sunburn and heat exhaustion.• Choose one or two pairs of supportive shoes for all your travels on foot.
Known for being a spring break hotspot, Cancun is equally appealing to families with young children, young couples and seniors. It is an easy flight from most major airports in the United States, and there are many Cancun all inclusive hotels and resorts to match any budget level.
While your personal choices may vary based on your style, the time of year you are visiting, your age and your activity level, this helpful list will give you the basics of what you should remember to bring to this popular area known as the Mexican Caribbean.
Choose Activity-Specific Clothing
To cut down on unnecessary clothing, think through what you will be doing while on a Cancun vacation. If you are staying at one of the many Cancun all inclusive resorts, you may have many planned events, such as beach volleyball, parasailing, snorkeling or exploring local shopping districts.
For most events, your clothing can remain casual. Choose light-colored clothing made from natural fibers, such as cotton, to decrease heat against your skin. Bring two swimsuits to give you a chance to wash and dry the first while you are wearing the second.
If you are hiking or exploring on one of the local excursions to Xcaret or the Mayan ruins, choose supportive shoes and long pants to protect from insects. Water shoes are another good option for wearing to Xel-Ha or other areas that offer snorkeling and swimming with dolphins.

Remember the Strength of the Sun
Because Cancun vacation packages get you so close to the equator, you will need to protect yourself daily from the sunshine and heat. June and July are the hottest months with average highs around 90 degrees Fahrenheit. However, even January has an average high of 81 degrees.
Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. Wear sunglasses with large frames that wrap around your face and sun hats with wide brims. You may also need water purification tablets to help you stay hydrated and healthy while drinking the local water.
Plan for Special Occasions
Staying at a Cancun all inclusive hotel or resort may require you to plan for several special occasions. Most Cancun all inclusive resorts have at least two formal events over the course of a one-week stay. Men may be required to wear button-down shirts, neckties or even suit jackets while women may be required to wear dress pants or formalwear. You should check with your specific Cancun resort or with the travel agent who sold you one of these Cancun packages for specific rules and requirements.
Bring Small Personal and Fun Items
According to USA Today, if you are not staying in a Cancun all inclusive resort but have instead chosen a budget hotel, you may find that the provided toiletries are lacking. Bring along personal items such as soap, shampoo, hair products and toothpaste, and include some basic options from your medicine cabinet to protect against stomachaches, headaches and intestinal issues. Make sure to follow TSA regulations regarding items in your luggage.
Be sure to bring a camera to record all of your memories, and also bring something fun to do while you relax on the beach, such as a book or magazine.
