The next town along from Torrox, has a market every Tuesday, loads of places to sit and eat tapas, has a plaza full of nite time bars and clubs for anyone who loves the nightlife! Tons of shops to browse around. And the most focal point is the Balcon De Europa, a balcony that overs looks the sea. Has the Wally train which takes your around the town viewing all the sites or a horse and cart ride.
Very nice place for a sun holiday. We visited with small children and that was no problem. Beautiful views from the "terrace of Europe". Quite a large British population here, by the way, you don't need a lot of Spanish to get around here.
I love Nerja. The paella and seafood. Oh man, it is a phenomenon. Cooked on a beach merendero, fresh from the sea, not 30 meters from the water! Words cannot describe. The whitewashed facade with terra cotta roofs. The pebble beaches, the cobblestones. The pebblestone step roads! it's almost too fantastic. Get your sangria on sitting at an outdoor bar on the paseo/Balcón de Europa and melt into the world. Best off season. It can get a little crowded at the height of the summer.
A 2 hr drive from Granada, but the town has loads to offer. Bigger than it appears, boulders to hike amongst on the coast, peaceful sand beaches, and relaxation await you. Quite the small, coastal city!
