Dresden Airport is located in Klotzsche in the German Free State of Saxony, a Dresden district. The airport is 5.6 miles north of the city's downtown center. Dresden International Airport was originally planned to be a commercial airport, but during World War II it was used only for military purposes. After the war, the Soviet army used the airport as an educational post, with international air traffic resuming in 1959. After the reunification of Germany, Dresden Airport was modernized, expanded, and flights to Western Europe were begun.

Getting From Dresden Airport to Your Destination

After your plane lands and you've collected any baggage, you will need to transfer to your hotel in Dresden or other destination. A taxi ride from Dresden Airport to the city center will cost about $24. You can find the taxi stands right in front of the terminal entrances and exits.
