Cheap Flights to Nevis

The small, tranquil West Indies island of Nevis offers a tropical retreat steeped in history. With a total area of less than 36 square miles, everything from black sand beaches to the Alexander Hamilton House is just a short ride away from Vance W. Amory International Airport (NEV), located outside of Newcastle Village on the northern point of the island. Within minutes of the airport, you can begin your vacation with a tasty beachside lunch featuring abundant fruit and local specialties such as rock lobster and goat water stew. During your vacation to Nevis, you're sure to enjoy the endless beauty of clear waters, lush rainforests and spectacular views.

Vance W. Amory International Airport
Previously known as Newcastle Airport, Vance W. Amory International Airport was renamed in 2002 after the Nevis premier. Although it only has a single small runway, the airport is modern and elegant, including a control tower and terminal, and flights to Nevis arrive daily. Travelers can book flights to Nevis via Spirit Airlines from St. Maarten on Saturdays or on Cape Air, Seaborne, Tradewind Aviations or Air Sunshine from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Nevis.

Most visitors to Nevis choose to hire a taxi to get from the airport to their hotels, which will cost about $12. A tour of the island helps visitors become familiar with the 21-mile main road before they decide to rent a car, bike, walk or try the privately owned mini buses. If you choose to rent a car, you must get a $20 visitor driver's license and then be prepared to drive on the left. Renting a car might be easier than relying upon the buses because they do not run on set schedules.

Attractions in Nevis
Visitors should definitely take a trip out to Nevis Peak, the island's dormant volcano. Though the hike up is of moderate difficulty, travelers will appreciate the tropical scenery during a stroll around the base of the volcano. Beyond the volcano, adventurers will also enjoy zip lining or taking bike and equestrian tours of the surrounding area.

Those interested in history will enjoy the Montpeiler House, the Alexander Hamilton House, the Nevisian Heritage Village, the Museum of Nevis History, the Jewish Cemetery and a number of churches.

Of course, no visit to the Caribbean is complete without spending time relaxing on a beach. With 10 beaches to choose from on this small island, you're guaranteed to find a perfect tropical paradise.
